Great game atmosphere. Don't think I've ever seen a MAC women's game that was more exciting in a first-class venue.

1S 1A is a great place to watch a game. Not many women's games inthe nation will draw a crowd like that one.

I agree completely, it was an incredible atmosphere and it's a beautiful venue. The problem is it takes 5800 rapid fans for Savage to rock like that and I don't know the last time a women's game was able to do that there. AA rocks with half that many and my hope is that our new arena is set up for atmosphere first and beauty second.
Don't get me wrong, I can't wait for it to open, it can only help with recruiting, it's just going to be hard to match the game-in-game-out home court advantage we have enjoyed at AA.

For your information (MAC Conferance Stat's Web Page)
Savage Arena had over 5700 fans for a Game last year Against Eastern Michigan. The Place still rocks with a Average of 2235 fans a game this year. This Years Average fan attendance is Leading the MAC for MAC games.
Toledo Still leads the MAC in overall attendance with 2106 (Home, Road and Neutral. sites)
Toledo has Lead the MAC in Attendance for Women's Basketball for 19 Years Straight.
The Place is Wonderful site for Basketball, being My first vist. (But that My personal opinion)

I'd like to see your data on that, because we had many, many threads about the attendance race in 2007 and 2008, which were won by BG. In fact, Toledo came in third in 2007 if memory serves because Ball State finished second behind BG.

You say it's a wonderful site, I said it was a beautiful venue with an incredible atmosphere. I think we're on the same page there.
You seem to have gotten the impression I was dissing Toledo and or Savage Arena. Absolutely not. My point was, that kind of atmosphere can be attained at Anderson Arena with 3000 fans and I worry that it will not be the case at The Stroh Center. I'm glad that your first visit was with nearly 6000 fans, I have been to countless games there that were closer to that average of 2235 and believe me, 2235 there feels nothing like 2235 at AA.
If indeed UT has led the Mac in women's attendance for 19 straight years, it makes my point. BG does not have the built-in fan base that a large city like Toledo has. We have 5 straight MAC championships and you tell me they still have more fans year after year. That doesn't say anything good or bad about them or us, it's just a fact. Smallish crowds in large arena's changes the atmosphere.
It will be up to us the make sure The Stroh Center rocks like AA.
