Cheerleaders at Toledo game

Anyone know why the cheerleaders or our mascots were not at the game on Sat? Was pretty embarrassing to have none of them there. They are our biggest rival, a huge game, and only 20 minutes away so I'm not buying the budget cuts excuse.

Seems really rare to see another teams cheerleaders at away games anymore. Used to be Freddie and Rocky would be "duking" it out during timeouts, cheerleaders alternating timeouts for routines, etc. certainly added to the atmosphere. I frequently see other schools cheerleaders and mascots(NIU's was VERY cool-and ridiculously hairy) at football games but rarely in basketball where they would be more likely to have an impact, IMO.

Ask TU why they didn't send their cheerleaders, mascot, or the Blue Crew to the BG-TU game on Monday evening. Other than high school football and basketball games, I have not seen two sets of cheerleaders at these events.

Eastern had cheerleaders at the women's game in AA.

But, that is the only time in recent memory a visiting team has brought cheerleaders to BG for a regular season game.

Pretty sure Temple didn't have any desire to send cheerleaders to a UT-BG game. That would be really wierd. I know UT's Blue Crew was hard hit by flu-not sure that's why THEY didn't attend. I didn't even realize Temple HAD a Blue Crew- seems odd since their colors are cherry and white or something.

Again, H2O, you sure it wasn't Tulane? I mean half their color scheme is white too.

I always thnk MAC first, then sort-of-MAC, then everybody else. Although I am fond of Tulane-had a good time there during MArdi Gras many years ago....but not with their cheerleaders.

BLOW was mis- spelled here, twice:

"I know UT's Blue Crew was hard hit . . ."

". . . a Blue Crew- seems odd . . . ."

Guess I have been to an away game in years to notice. I try to stay out of Tudleedoo whenever possible as me and my 4 and 7 year old were approached by a group of moronic students in the parking lot after the game. They were so nice to scream at us the BG cheer that they can't seem to let go of. And yes my 4 yr old can spell so now he tells me how things suck. If my kids, who again are 4 and 7, hadn't been with me the idiots would have gotten an earful from me. I realize it happens to visiting teams frequently but if I hear BG students doing it I'll yell at them, especially if there are children around. Just classless...

This is why I stopped going to away football games at tudleedoo. Silly me thought a day women's game would be ok for children to go to. And after all they won, let it go!

Speaking as a former mascot, considering the number of events they have to work/attend as mascots and students, on top of class work, there are plenty of reasons they couldn't make the trip. It's unfortunate, but when you have unpaid students volunteering as mascots, cheerleaders and spirit crew members, that's what happens. There are enough home sporting events and other events that to travel to Toledo for all away events would be a bit too much.

Also, forget university budgets, the students probably would've had to pay their own way in terms of gas, too. Doesn't seem like much, but still, it's something.

Are you really going to complain and criticize the fact that neither a mascot or cheerleaders were at the BG/UT game? Honestly I've been cheering here for a while now and I can tell you that when Eastern brought cheerleaders to Anderson it was the first time in my years of cheering for BGSU that an opponent brought cheerleaders other than WNIT when Dayton and IU both brought cheerleaders. Other than football we never travel anywhere for basketball except for post season tournaments... Ex: MAC tourney, NCAA, WNIT. Other than that, we don't travel. Maybe when we are able to offer scholarships to the spirit squads you can expect to see them travel, but until that point find something better to complain about. We do alot for next to nothing as it is.

And if your kids can read they might be asking you what "blow" means in the context it was used in the post above yours. But since you always tell off classless BG fans I'm sure you've PM'd FalconCommander!
