Weak Article on Game

As good as the ESPN article was, the PD article, written by Dennis Maniloff, is just plain WEAK! Go to Cleve.Com if you want to see it... I know the women's games aren't as "important" as the men's games, but this seems VERY weak, unless more will be added later.


OTOH, there's a rather clever "interview" with Jen Uhl re: college and playing for Curt...take a look...

The game article has been updated, and is a pretty good account of the game. Actually I think the Plain Dealer does a pretty good job of covering the women's side of the tournament, with quite a few sidebar stories and good photos. There's an article now up discussing Breske's game-changing block.

Elton Alexander, I believe, took a jab at the women in the Sunday PD as well saying the MAC Tournament is "stuck" with the women's tourney at the Q only one more year. I thought that was pretty shallow of him and I think EA usually does a decent job covering the MAC.

IMO, the women deserve the same coverage and recognition as the men....after all, they are MAC student-athletes as well.

Here is Elton Alexander's exact quote:

"The tournament is stuck one more year with the women also at The Q before MAC presidents decide to move to a site potentially more cost-effective (Toledo/Fort Wayne, Ind). That hopefully brings all the men's teams back to Cleveland for the entire event in 2012, instead of holding first-round games on campus sites."

Though I was critical re: the "weak" comment to start this thread.. I have to give the PD credit for following up with not one, but TWO good articles on the game... sometimes it seems that the PD only likes to play up the "local" thing i.e. Akron and Kent...It's logical to a point, but the entire MAC has a TON of alums in the NE Ohio area who want to see things about their schools too. But again, congrats to the PD on the followup articles...and those Pix are great... we must've left before the Curt Miller dance...sorry to have missed that!
