Guys, think about this for a momemt...you're the FIFTH seed in the tournament, won on Mon., then knocked off the #4 seed, then the #1 seed to get to the championship game...you give BG literally all they could handle for 40 minutes.... and the COMMISSIONER of your league doesn't even mention your team during the final presentations of awards!

Unless I missed it somewhere, I think "shoemaker" or whatever the heck his name is should be blasted on this one... Yeah, the 2 kids made the all tourn. team, deservedly so, but NO "runner up" trophy any more? And NO mention of the losing team in the championship game? BUSH!!!! IMO.
I'd just read where the MAC AD's and Pres. evidently voted to not give out "token gifts" to the teams that made the tournament, not even a T shirt that had been evidently provided in prior years. Let's save up the bucks MAC... makes us look 2nd class at best, again, IMO.
Congratulations to our BG ladies, but also congrats to EMU for giving us all a HECK of a game!!!!

Good points 61 - I don't have to imagine too hard what kind of blasts would be posted by AZZers if BG was treated this way in a loss.

I thought I saw the BG players wearing MAC hats and t-shirts after the game. I'm not sure who supplied them but they did have those at least.

Don't blame the Commissioner. It was a decision that all the Athletic Directors made a couple of years ago. They decided the runners-up trophy ceremony just prolonged the agony for the losing team. You have the winners running around celebrating and the loser were always crying. The Athletic nDirectors decied to get them to the locker room and not subject them to the ceremony. Same thing on the men's side.
Believe me, it wasn't a cost savings move...the runnerup trophy is all of about $250.

Rollo, that EMU team WAS on the floor watching the presentations... and it would've taken TWO minutes to congratulate them for an excellent effort and a successful season. If I'm the coach trying to build a program like BG has, I WANT my kids to see what all the hard work is about...and the rewards from doing that work. If they choose to leave the floor since the MAC has decided, in its "infinite" wisdom, to NOT present a runner up trophy, so be it. But this team DID stay there, and I think the Commiss. was remiss in not recognizing them while they were there.

The commissioner did recognize them. He walked right over to AnnMarie Gilbert, shook her hand, and talked with her.
The team that should be "P.O'd" with the MAC is Toledo from last season. They were called to center court to pick up their runner-up trophy, sent the captains out, and found out there was no hardware for them. Awkward handshakes.
FWIW, the commissioner didn't say anything on the public address system about BG either.

EMU stayed on the court because their coached wanted her young team to see the atmosphere. That was her decision. Other losing teams have had a hard dealing with the ceremony, thus they decided to cancel the losing team recognition.
