Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech is a very impressive team. They have a great resume. They are athletic and slightly bigger than us. But they do play an up tempo game, similar to CMU or Buffalo. From the few games I seen in the ACC they are not too physical. They have beaten UNC and only lost to Duke by 8 pts.
One thing that may play into our favor is that by the time we play on Saturday they would not have played a game in 2 weeks. If we play our tempo, our game, get production of our bench like the CMU game and shoot well we WILL win. I think our fans will be the 6th man of the game!! Looking forward to this weekend. Go Falcons

The ESPN selection shows talked about the "pressure" Georgia Tech brings. I assume they play a fulll court, pressing defense similar to what EMU played against us late in the championship game.
I thought we handled that OK against EMU because Tracy was able to just dribble around/through it. Not sure we'll be able to do that against GT? Others will need to help advance the ball against their pressure.
GT two leading scorers are 6'1" (senior) and 5'9" (freshman). They do have 6'4" and 6'5" post players but it looks like they don't score all that much. They do have a ton of athletes in the 5'10 to 6'2" range that push the ball. Only two seniors on the whole squad.
Arkansas Little Rock upset them last year in the first round. Sneaking up on them this year won't be as easy.

Take a look at the Ga. Tech site for some team comparisons on stats

FREE THROWS! FREE THROWS! FREE THROWS!
We outshoot them from the line by a little under 15%. Free throws will be big if we can get to the line.

Do You Wanna Dance?

Head coach MaChelle Joseph and her players are headed to Columbus, Ohio with a chip on their shoulder.
Georgia Tech Women's Hoops go to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth straight year.

The Georgia Tech Women's Basketball Team is headed to the NCAA Tournament for the seventh time in school history and for a school-record fifth straight season. They've even earned the highest seeding, a fifth seed, in the program's history. That's quite a hot streak.
Following the announcement on the NCAA Tournament Selection show, Head Coach MaChelle Joseph was plenty hot.
"Obviously we're happy to be in the Tournament but we're disappointed in the seed," she said. "We feel like it's kind of a slap in the face."
Joseph's Yellow Jackets, who enter the tournament ranked 24th in the nation, with a 23-10 record, are headed to the Dayton Region and will open against two-time defending Mid-American Conference Champion Bowling Green (28-4, 13-3), the 12 seed, on Saturday.
Personally I think that seeding is correct. Ranked #24 and with 4 regions, 24/4 is 6. she is lucky the committee didn't give GT a 6 seed. She is all worried about playing OSU on their home floor. Heck let her be concentrated on OSU. Wait until she sees the sea of orange!!!

GT certainly has plenty of size on their roster, something in which BG has in short supply(pun) The Falcons must shoot a high percentage to have a chance. They can't afford the poor shooting like in the MAC tournament and still expect to win. Let's hope senior leadership and great 3pt shooting can overcome athleticism. Go FALCONS! (and yes, most of Plain City will be there to cheer their favorite daughter)

The attendance at the MAC Championship game was 2500. I counted about 100 EMU fans and some fans may have been from other schools or local basketball fans so I would say 2000 were from BG. I would think all of those fans would make the same distance drive down to Columbus, which is a very nice city (minus the campus). But I would think BG would have those 2000 plus all of Lauren's supporters from Plain City and plus we have 10 other girls from Ohio so I expect a HUGE crowd support. Would also be nice if the Buckeye fans would support us against our game against GT but we will see. I did hear OSU had a special for this game. Go to the local tattoo shop and you get a voucher for a free ticket with every tattoo. And if you get a big enough tattoo OSU will provide you with an Escalade to drive for the weekend.
