University of Toledo women's basketball coach Tricia Cullop is a leading candidate to be offered the same position at Wisconsin, according to several published reports.

Multiple people with knowledge of the situation confirmed to The Blade on Tuesday that Cullop will interview with the Badgers, or has already done so.

So if Cullop would leave I guess the Chinese would take back their ownership of the city of Toledo.

Cullop denies being contacted by Wisconsin. guess she's gone for sure.

My guess is that Coach Cullop will see Naama through to graduation.

Well, woo her about 25 miles South to the brand new Stroh Center. She'll see more championship banners at the Stroh Center than Savage Arena.

The WNIT title is a great accomplishment, don't get me wrong. Toledo sent their seniors out on a great note and got some valuable practice time for the returning players. BUT, you can't tell me that Toledo would've preferred being in the WNIT to being in the NCAA. In fact, the following is from a preseason Q&A with Tricia Cullop, from utrockets.com...

Q: Talk about the goals you have for the team in 2010-11?
A: We would like to defend our MAC West title, challenge for the conference overall title and make our second straight post-season berth, preferably in the NCAA tourney.

Q: What kind of effect does winning the MAC West Division title and advancing to post-season play for the first time in almost a decade have on your program in 2010-11?
A: I was excited to see our players enjoy the fruits of their labor. They worked extremely hard to get us back to post-season play and win the MAC West Division. Now that our players understand the level of commitment it takes to get to post-season play, we will be challenging each other daily to raise the bar! Our players gained some confidence by achieving what we did last season, but they would love to someday play in the NCAA Tournament someday soon.

Cullop reiterated tonight that the NCAA is the ultimate. For the Rockets a MAC and WNIT championship this year was far better than a one and done in the NCAA. There is no way the same sort of success next year would draw the same reaction-you don't want a reputation as the school that wins WNIT Championships. For now, an increase in the already large WBB following and the ability to show recruits a rabid crowd of 7,000 + tearing the roof off for the Rockets is something that can't be topped in the short term. While I would rather make the NCAA (and we will), this worked out better for this year.

my hope through all of this is that the MAC is solidified as a two bid conference.
