BG @ Wyoming win

Post by AyZiggy97 »

BG beat Wyoming 60-53 Thursday night to get their first win in The Mountain West portion of the schedule. Career high points for Jessica Slagle. The Falcons out rebounded an opponent for the seventh consecutive game. The squad rolls in to Colorado State for New Year's Eve.

Roll. Along.

It's been interesting to see the lineup changes in the last few games. Curt's been using Jess Slagle predominantly at the point, saying that he likes how she pushes tempo, and probably also because of her senior leadership (her 12 of 16 free throws kept our lead at the end of the Wyoming game). Normally I would be afraid that it's too close to MAC play to be messing with the lineups and player combinations, but with this young team, it seems Curt is still looking for the right combinations.

Happy to see how Rogers is dominating the boards as of late, having 12 rebounds against Wyoming. She'll have to continue fighting, as rumor has it the Colorado State players are inches taller than BG at every position.

Also continuing my props to Jasmine Matthews, who played almost 30 minutes at Wyoming. She drained two 3's and while she didn't fill up the stat line, from what the radio announcers described, she played some stifling defense. It's fun to see her develop into that "glue kid" who works herself up into the starting five and finds ways to contribute on both ends of the floor.

Let's get another road "W" to boost confidence heading into MAC play :) Go BG!
