Stopped by Soaring Eagle casino on my way to the game. Hit a nice jackpot for $1145.00. Made the trip that much better. Less than two hours before Falcons continue our winning ways. Still don't enjoy Mt Pleasant. Every time I come here I think of that fat punter of CMU running untouched down the sidelines. Time for lunch and root our ladies onto another win.

GO FALCONS

BG up by 7 at half. Matthews and Slagle leading us scoring. Game is closer than it should thanks to foul trouble and lots of turnovers. Nice crowd on hand today. Still don't like this arena even after all the renovations.

Wow, just wow. BG hangs on to win in OT 77-72. 4 players had 4 fouls for a long time, Havel the only one to foul out.

BG escapes Mt. Pleasant with a 77-72 OT win. Definitely not pretty but a road win is always good. CMU had not lost at home this year and is a very physical team. Lots of fouls, lots of turnovers and terrible officiating each way. I have no idea how that Taylor Johnson, #44, kept her cool earlier this week and wasn't involved in that fight. That girl has a serious attitude.

More importantly BG improves to 18-3, 8-0, and returns home. Half the season is over now. Let's keep rolling.

Re: Johnson I was surprised too, but she always seems to do well against BG. She has not been a starter this year, but forced to start for the 2nd time. I missed the injury on #5 or what kept her out since the beginning of January.

Anyway, we needed ALL of our players today.

I think we definitely lucked out by catching CMU when several of their players were out...this was one of the toughest games on the conference schedule for sure, including the two games vs Miami and the one @ Toledo. The fact that we've come out with victories in two of those four already is just fabulous. Everything about this team and this coaching staff is simply outstanding. We lose one of the best players, maybe THE best player in BG history along with three other starters and yet we come out the very next year and are unbeaten in conference play and steamrolling toward another MAC Championship and trip to the NCAA tournament.

For most of this season I figured that we would struggle in a lot of games, and maybe not beat some of the better teams out of conference and in the MAC, but with the success we're having, its hard not to think about where we'll be seeded come tournament time and if we can steal a game or two once we get there. I know, very greedy of me to think about but the potential is certainly there. Gotta get through the back half of the MAC slate first though.

I only wish I would have been able to attend more games this season...being 2 hours away from BG stinks.

Having seen CMU play at Toledo, with the 3 suspended players in the starting lineup, but not #33 Brandie Baker, I think the team I saw BG play against yesterday might have been just as good. Yes, those 3 freshman have great potential, but the TEAM that played for CMU played much better as a unit, especially on the defensive end of the floor.

Great win for the Falcons, in a very difficult environment. As someone else stated, the PA announcer YELLED everything, and they blasted music at a level that made me think I was standing next to a speaker at a rock concert.

Jess Slagle has been so impressive this year. I attribute a lot of our recent success, especially against Ball State and CMU, to her leadership. To be honest, she wasn't always my favorite player becomes she could be so inconsistent. But she really stepped it up this year, not only in scoring and dishing assists, but also by doing all of the little things.

Coach Miller has said many times that she considers herself more of a 2-guard rather than a point guard, but she's embraced her PG role this year. And that's been a huge difference for BG. She's smart and tough and she is leading this team. Kudos to Jess for having such a great impact in her senior year.

CC,
You beat me to it re: Jess Slagle....she's had a couple of OUTSTANDING games as the PG, making key buckets, but more importantly, making good DECISIONS with the ball, hitting open teammates, or taking the ball to the whole herself.... She's really jumped on the role of a Senior and TEAM LEADER. Her comments after the game re: Curt Miller and her sometimes "crossing paths" (and that's scary) or something like that cracked me up. \:D/
