OU 60
BG 56
BG played poorly last 25 min of game, giving up a 12 pt lead. BG now tied with Eastern and still holds #1 seed but we have to win out to secure that seed.
Poor shooting and missed free throws and lack of rebounds second half doomed us in. This is now the 7th straight game where we have struggled in the second half. We are being outplayed and outhustled down the stretch. We are not playing championship basketball but we still have time to correct things. Back at it Saturday against Miami.
And Greg Christooher's job as women's selection chair got a little easier. If BG was a bubble team they are not no more. Not with losing to a school with RPI of 271.

Damn, the Bobcats got us again? That's at least the 3rd time they've come out of nowhere to beat us since I began following the team...at home in 2007, in the MAC semifinals in 2008, and now again tonight.
This defeat was probably worse than the previous two seeing as Ohio was somewhat decent back 4-5 years ago and they are terrible now. Good thing EMU won yesterday so we're still in first, but our back is against the wall now. Need to win out from here.

Hard to win games when 4 bench players play a total of 19 minutes combine, and you only get 2 points from those players combined. The starters fought; Lex was an absolute beast (24 points, 16 rebounds, 3 assists), Jess had a good first half, and Jasmine made clutch 3's down the stretch. But sloppy, sloppy turnovers and several missed open layups... are not all that excusable this time of year.
Also, tons of credit to OU's Tinisha Benson who was unstoppable in the end game and made the clutch plays OU needed to grind out a win.
Hopefully we can get the offense going sometime soon. This was a disappointing game.

Glad someone else noted the time spent on the floor by our starters...Not sure WHY we didn't sub a bit to give them a "breather" now and then...to be honest, a couple of the ladies did NOT play well at all...and OU obviously wanted this game BADLY.
You can be sure that Miami is gonna throw a zone at us on Sat...we seemed afraid to shoot at times... even Jess, who seems a bit more fearless, wasn't herself...and I'm not sure what is happening with Chrissy, who missed a couple of wide open threes, then seemed to disappear, at least in terms of shooting. Very disappointing loss, when a win would've almost clinched the #1 seed, even with a couple of games to go....we could wind up as low as a #3, if we lose to Miami and/or KSU.

How many of the people who posted here were at the game? I was there. We didn't play well & it's a loss & HISTORY. Why the coaches & players do what they do is up to them. We had shots we didn't make & made some we probably shouldn't have.
Please go look at our record & tell me you would have thought it to be thus in September. I think not. Curt & company have created in the fans an expectation of total domination & success at all cost by the past successes. If we hadn't been grinders most of the season the record would be different.
Can't change history so deal with the present and control the future. We still have our own destiny in our own hands.

Couldn't have said it any better myself, well maybe. Lol. But Sue is right. I dont think anyone could have predicted we would have this record before the season started. I am not too worried about the lack of recent performance from our bench. I am more concerned with Chrissy. She has been regressing. Not sure if its from pressure and expectations. Not sure if she is exhausted from her hard play on defense. We need to get her going again. Win next two and we are MAC champs and #1 seed.

I'm only concerned because the wheels seem to have fallen off the bus
We were picked to win the East, and we probably will do that. We might even get to the NCAA's, but it seems we're running out of gas in second halves. Maybe some of the other players should be playing....

This is still a basketball discussion board. We discuss basketball games. Yes, it's over, and we can't change it, but many fans including me enjoy analyzing past games and discussing what needs to be improved, so we know what to look for in coming games.
I was not at the game. But I watched on live stream and listened to the radio broadcast. That doesn't make me any less able to leave my thoughts about the game, nor other people, who may have only seen a newspaper write-up or a stat sheet. We're still fans and it's still a discussion and we're still huge supporters of BGSU women's basketball.
Yes, we've come an amazing distance this year, and no one expected us to do it. The players work hard and leave everything on the floor. Choosing to express hard feelings over one game is something fans do.
If there is no place on this discussion board for past games that went badly, and no place on this discussion board for people to analyze games when they were not physically present, I guess I have nothing to contribute to this board.

The problem I have with the discussions is so many people tell what they think should have been done but hardly ever compliment the players or build them up when we win or lose. With 5 losses & some "grinder" wins everybody becomes the day after coach. Curt, his staff and the kids have done an amazing job. If I can't keep pointing this out then I guess I need to stop posting on this board also.
Before each season, I look at our schedule, players and with a whole lot of faith make predictions about individual game outcomes win/loss & record. In the past 4 seasons, I've been spot on for record but missed a few losses. This year looks good too.
I believe in this program through thick & thin (not much of that) & we've been way spoiled. So if I stifled your coaching from the stands post performance, I'm sorry. I just know the coaches & players lay it on the line every game even if it doesn't look like it.
Most of the players were watching at this time last year or still in high school....yeah they're tired...check the starters 'minutes for the OU game. We can type all our opinions all we want but Curt's still the coach & it's his team.
I coached HS bball way back when, wasn't easy then, not now either... no way D1 coach.
Please don't let anyone stand or sit by you & tell you how to do your job. These Student-Athletes have two.
Before anyone rails on me. I've seen the size of the scouting reports these kids get 1st one is half the size of War & Peace. Smaller one given with specific things from report for that game. Actually have copy of one from game @ OU?! several years ago when rode team bus.....it's a whole 'nother class like the one you had where the prof thought his was your only one. Film work, practice, lifting, travel on a bus to most games, missing classes making up work, late arrival home after bus ride shoot-around, study table etc. They're 18-22 year olds & human too .....make mistakes who hasn't.

Sue,
Please don't take offense to what I was saying...it was more an observation on my part rather than criticism...I watched the game via MAC-sports.com so I "wasn't" there physically. Was at the Akron game, where I simply feel they match up well against us for some reason, though they got blown out by Miami. We're coming up to BG on Sat. as part of my birthday celebration... (Freak and I were born only a day apart...hard to believe isn't it?

) My comments re: the ladies seeming to be afraid to shoot were actually mentioned by the OU announcers, who did a pretty good job overall.
We LOVE to watch the ladies play when we can get there...unfortunately can't do many 2 1/2 hr. drives each way every time there's a game, so we try to make the Akron and KSU games and at least one or two trips to BG. (This year it's only one due in part to my pneumonia problems in Nov.-Dec.)

61 1. I'm not upset with you
2. glad you're feeling better
3. happy you are making trip to see the women play
I added to my previous post what bugs me about some of discussions. Curt calls plays for certain player in certain situations. For the most part over the years & now he's been right. When we win everybody says fine, great ok & moves on; lose & new ways do it come forth.
Won't say I know why players aren't shooting.... may be trying too hard, too tired or just don't know.. the mind & body are tired but hoping results will be what we want on Saturday & then Wednesday but Sat. first.
Guess I need to cheer "spit in the ocean" more often or "hot potato burn the net"
Every bball game I ever played on drive way, in gym, handheld, computer, kid's arcade shooting gallery (have small one in garage) was to put ball in basket.
Yes, Happy Birthday B safe see you at the Stroh.

Yes, the overall tone of my post was disappointed, but as I quote, I always try to find some compliments for the players and team and their improvements this year. I did it in this post; I do it all the time. I actually wonder if people are annoyed by how much I talk about my love for Jasmine Matthews.
If anyone takes a look at the posts I've made on this forum you would find more than enough enthusiasm and encouragement and compliments for the amazing progress we've made this year. I am not coaching from the stands. If describing what I saw and what I feel the team could improve on is coaching from the stands, then every press conference interview and every Toledo Blade and Sentinel Tribune write up surely must be too, if they criticize any part of a sloppy game.
I love this program. I didn't play sports in high school and I hated basketball the most. But my freshman year at BGSU, I was fortunate enough to play in the A-Band and follow the WBB team all the way to the Sweet Sixteen, and WBB has become my hobby and my passion. I follow every game on the radio or live stream I even follow the WNBA extensively now, after Lauren had her chance with the Seattle Storm. Curt Miller's program and the student athletes have changed the way I view sports and given me a hobby I'll never give up. Hell, I taught myself how to shoot a basketball because I enjoy this sport so much now. Thanks to Curt Miller and BGSU.
I joined this board to join the conversation with other falcon fans, because frankly my friends are sick of hearing me rant about WBB. I'm very disappointed that my contributions are not seen as valuable, so I will not be making any more.
Signing off, ccollin13.

Look...I think BG Sue is way off on this, but there's no reason to go off in a snit.
