Logic says I should root for the team that beat us so I can say we were beat by the best.
Personally, though, I'd like to see EMU knock that CHIPpewaw off CMU's shoulder. Particularly 44.

And so Sports Time OHIO broadcasts the wrestling match between two Michigan teams.

ESPN reporting that if EMU wins they will play at the Stroh. That will do well for our conference and I think many BG fans will come out and cheer on EMU. Plus EMU will bring some fans. They don't draw well during regular season but they brought a nice fan base to the Q as well as in the NIT last year.

Very entertaining game. CMU up by a point. 59-58, just over 8 min remaining. Hate to admit it, but both EMU and CMU are playing better than BG did down the stretch. Both EMU and CMU had a deep bench. I think our women just ran out of gas a few weeks ago. EMU now up by 1. Back and forth game.

What a finish to a great game!!!! Congrats to EMU. Game winner with 1 sec left. Couldn't ask for a better championship game unless of course it involved BG. I think EMU will represent the MAC very well.

What's better than a buzzer beater?
Beating the buzzer by a good second.

btw, I don't remember BG running out of gas a few weeks ago. I remember a lot of 3 pointers made, especially at Kent.

I didn't phase that correctly, we appeared fatigued late in many of our games in the second half. Beginning at CMU, and UT, at OU, and then MAC semis. There were numerous games in the second half of games we were spent. Our starters played lots of minutes, except when in foul trouble. I don't think we could have stayed with either of the teams today.

Regardless, today's MAC championship was a great game.

Both teams today reminded me of some of our teams of past. They both looked like they were on a mission. I think this year's BG team lacked a go-to player. We didn't have an Ali Mann or Lauren Prochaska. Chrissy Stefan just wasn't that player for us this year. Maybe she'll grow in to the role next year?

gmartin, EMU deserving champion. But they have NO bench. None. Watched Saturday at The Q and three starters went 40 and the other two 35 and 36 I believe. The two front court subs used played a total of nine minutes and scored two points. One literally was just a place holder to get the one girl a couple minutes rest. In the game they played lost at the Stroh, their bench did almost nothing. They did play a couple of other girls, but not much there. They lose James and Redditt so they will need to develop some players to go with Watkins and the athletic but extremely EXTREMELY shot challenged point Thomas.

Now Central- they are deep.

I think we have enough good basketball players and also are deep. I guess I would say that playing real tough and physical and getting it after it- while still in our offensive and defensive concepts- is where we can really add to the program. Must get "stronger" to withstand and battle. It appears we get moved around some and also have some trouble finishing at times against certain clubs. Some of our players will need to step forward. As in every year. Hulls might add a little something.

But hey we'll get it figured out.

I can think of 11 MAC schools that would like to say "Eight Time Defending MAC Champs"". That is flat out amazing. Tremendous accomplishment. How many schools can say they have won their league regular season or tourney eight straight? UCONN? Stanford? Can't be many. Great job by Curt, staff and team.

Go Falcons!

I'm still holding out hope for Ogle and I didn't see Hulls play in the pregame. Imagine Lex moved to the 4 and if we get Stein, Pap, Hulls and Ogle vying for playing time, we will be great on the post. Havel's defense is stellar and we just need her to start taking and making those 12-17 footers that she did last year.

Now, who's going to step up in the wings next year? We saw flashes from Pastor, Hoekstra, and our Soph's, and Matthews will play the 2. So, it looks like next year, at least to start, we'll have a player to be named later to replace Slagle and the 4 returning starters. I don't expect it to stay that way.

Next year should be fun, but how about more games this year :-)
