Call me optimistic. Call me crazy, but I think next year we may be a two bid conference.
EMU loses James, but they will be a very tough team next year.
CMU, as already noted, has one senior that doesn't contribute much. They may be the MAC west favorite.
Toledo will have Naama back and should compete with EMU & CMU
NIU and BSU has majority underclassmen.
WMU will be the weakest link.
BG, we lose Slagle. Our other guards should step in nicely. Plus we get sharpshooter Hulls. BG should be MAC favorite in east.
Miami will be a senior laden team.
Akron and OU will improve greatly.
UB and Kent will be very young and still rebuilding.
All in all 9 quality programs with very good athletes. If our conference can get some quality OOC wins we could be at the A10 level and be a multi bid league. Next year may be one of the best years ever in MAC Women's basketball.

I agree gmartin. At the very least, CMU, Miami, BGSU, and Toledo will all be better than they were this year...and I would expect that Ball State, Akron, NIU, and Ohio should all improve as those teams aren't really hit by departures. BSU in particular is usually an elite MAC program, they're just down at the moment. EMU is a definite question mark without James but we'll see where they fall in.
That foursome of CMU, BGSU, UT, and MIA should be very solid though, those teams don't lose many significant pieces. The nonconference season next year should be fun to watch.
