BG at Butler

Rough game at the half. Butler leads 27-22, and the only reason BG is that close is due to some silly fouls late in the half by the Bulldogs.
Butler is playing great defense on the Falcons and not letting them get any good looks, at the arc or otherwise. Butler crashed the boards early and had something like 10 offensive rebounds in the first 10 minutes or so. BG began rebounding better towards the end of the half, but it's still an ugly, ugly game. Roos has used the bench liberally.
BG can stay in this if they come out of halftime and start crashing the boards.
Butler has a pretty nice streaming broadcast:

Bg takes the lead with 15:51, 32-31. BG finally able to penetrate in the paint, lead by Justinger and Hoekstra. Justinger in particular has brought a lot of heart and a lot of hustle to the second half.

C'mon Ladies!! Hit some shots, keep up the defensive pressure, and pull out this game!
Can't stress enough how big a 0 in the loss column is. It seems like so many times before we would have our worst losses of the season in the first week, and it would take forever for us to get any respect because we took on the damage right at the start.

Kinda like GPA... bad grades in the first semester take forever to overcome
BG finally playing their game - finally getting boards and getting out on transition (even though the commentators insist that "BG is not known for their transition game"). Rogers going to work, now has 17 pts and 7 reb. Matthews hit two huge 3's in this half. 55-46 BG with about 6 min left.
Both teams playing a fairly clean game in terms the new foul rules. Probably the cleanest I've seen this year, men's or women's.

The Falcons pull out a great win in the end, 61-57. The last few minutes were very competitive. The Bulldogs shot a deep 3 in the last seconds that would have won the game, but Donovan had a huge block. Justinger got the ball, was fouled, and made both FT's which sealed the game.
A great win for the Falcons - they overcame a pretty tough first half where they couldn't get any of their offense going, and were able to come out in the second half and play their game. Rogers was probably player of the game, but Justinger is going to be huge for this team this year.

We have a big stretch coming up including Marist and Ohio State, so we'll quickly know just how special this team is, especially if BG comes out of Columbus with a W.
