BG at Akron

Can't make the game today at the JAR but its a big one. BG is on a 12 game winning streak while the Zips have won 13 straight. The scenarios for the MAC title are a few with CMU but BG has clinched no worse than the 2nd seed in the tourney. Best case is BG wins and CMU loses today to EMU and we win the title outright.

BTW, the all time series is 50-3...BG. FIFTY to THREE. I don't care what sport, what level...that is incredible. Needless to say Akron pretty much hates us. LOL.

GO FALCONS!!!!!!!!!!!!! :supz:

Akron up 38-32 at the half. Zips playing good. Do not want to face this team again in 6 days but it looks like we may.

Not being a Debbie Downer but I don't see us winning this game. Akron on a 13 game winning streak, at Akron, Senior Day, etc. Plus Rachel Tecca hurt her knee 90 seconds into the game and they are playing incredible without her. BG also in foul trouble.

Unfortunately a loss today probably knocks us out of an at large. BG is a strong 2nd half team but this will be tough, especially with our short bench.

If Rachel Tecca is out of the game, its going to be awfully hard for the Zips to keep up with BG in the second half. The Falcons have simply been killing teams after the break throughout the 2nd half of conference play. I could see that happening again today...but it'll be more difficult to pull off against Akron than against lesser opposition because of the significance of this game (ie: on the road, senior day).

I'm not going to comment on the resume ramifications until the end of the game...I have my thoughts but we'll see where this one ends up.

EDIT: BG with a quick 6-0 run to start the 2nd half...tied at 38 with just under 18 minutes remaining.

BG ahead 50-49 at the under 12 media timeout.

Tecca only played ONE MINUTE so the Zips played all of first half without her. Zips up by 3 with the ball.

4 players with 3 fouls and still 10:00 remaining. This may get a little dicey with only 4 bench players.

Tied at 62 apiece with 6:48 left. What a game this is turning out to be!

Someone needs to inform coach Roos that CMU only up by 2. Give these girls some motivation that we can get the #1 seed and not have to face the Zips again. Lol.

Zips up by 2, but soon to be up 4

And the winning bucket is scored by Jillian Halfhill, who'd done virtually nothing shooting wise for the entire game... Talk about your seniors coming thru again...Lex Rogers was a force today! And Miriam Justinger, who's missed at least the last 2-3 games, came thru in the 2nd half with some big buckets and 3 crucial FT's late!

Way to go, FALCONS!!!!!!!!!! =D> =D> =D> =D>

Akron hit the 2 FT's with :23 left, but a Jillian Halfhill layup with 8 seconds left provided the winning margin. A final shot by Akron just before the buzzer was missed. What a fantastic win for the Falcons! The Zips gave them all they could handle and more...what a game.

Boy I sure hope Central doesn't blow it against Eastern. Now that would absolutely take CMU off the at-large bubble, and hurt our RPI at the same time. Come on Chippewas!!
