Up by double digits in the second half but folded. Some odd calls going both ways.

This team has to get a killer instinct and finish our games or it's going to be a long year.

You beat me to it. Final 51-48 .... Had a 9 pt lead earlier, but got pressured into turnovers.
Interesting is that the Loyola announcers kept saying BG was bigger, strongerand favored ( at leastbythem)

Young team will learn from this. Coach Roos said at season ticketholder social there would be some ups and downs with this young team. I firmly believe her. Was I disappointed we lost, sure I was. It didn't help that Jazz Matthews got hurt early in the second half. It hurts when one of your veterans goes down. She was having a good game. It's way too early to put that much emphasis on a loss. The motto of BG women's basketball is "not too high and not too low". As long as the team keeps improving and is playing good basketball by the beginning of MAC season, I'm ok with some frustrating losses.

Let's face reality. The MAC isn't going to get an at large bid to the NCAA Tournament. As always we just need to win the MAC Tournament in March. We could lose all our non conference games and struggle in the MAC but if we make progress during the season and peak at the right time that's all that matters. The team will have its ups and downs. We are currently a very poorly shooting team, for the season 34%. This team will get better as the season progresses.

I can't say I'm overly disappointed with this loss because they are a very young team. They were looking very good against a solid LMU team in regards to ball handling and hustle.

Develop consistency in more games and this team will again excel in the MAC.

I believe in JRoos.

In the vast majority of cases it would be easy to sit back and digest the reality of being a young team and going through the normal ups and downs that come with it.

The thing is, though, this has not been a program stuck in the mediocrity and sub-mediocrity of the vast majority. This is BG women's basketball, an exceptional program that has built a tradition of excellence. The standards are higher and we have grown to expect more.

Coach Roos played a huge role in setting that standard and is more than deserving of the benefit of the doubt and the space to sort through the growing pains and get things rectified. The concern comes from seeing how rapidly and suddenly slippage can occur in great programs (and great women's basketball programs in this conference specifically) and the hope that we have not succumbed to that blight.
