WNIT FIrst Round vs. Creighton (3/19)

On Friday, March 19, our Falcons (20-6) will take on the Creighton Bluejays (9-11) in the first round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament. The game will be played at 3:00pm EST, and it’ll be available to stream through FloHoops.

With a win, we’d play the winner of the Dayton vs. Northern Iowa game the following day. Regardless of Friday's outcome, BG will get 2 games out of this, which is a positive of this tournament.

This is a big opportunity for our program to show out and gain some valuable postseason experience. This will be our first WNIT appearance since 2014, when we advanced to the 4th round (beating Michigan along the way) before bowing out against Rutgers, the eventual champion, by 5 in the Quarterfinals.

Go Falcons!

Best to follow with GameTrack, the guy on the radio is working off the stream and he's not good.

For the guy on the radio https://www.google.com/search?client=fi ... ce+creiton

BG trails at the half 34-33

I don't understand how a national tournament's regional is being hosted at what looks like a local YMCA. It's disrespectful to these women to have to play in this empty rec center. They deserved an arena, at minimum.

It had to be a shock to the system, playing their last game in an NBA arena to now... whatever this is.

BG keeps battling, down 50-46 with 2:30 to play in the 3rd.

BG down 52-48 going into the 4th quarter. It's within reach here, but we'll have to earn it.

Did you spring the $$$ for FloHoops? I couldn't justify $30 (hey I'm only watching 2 or 3 games).

It's cumbersome to listen to the radio, especially when he gets the names wrong, but Gametracker is my friend.

Apparently my FloHockey subscription (which I have already canceled for the season, though it still works until mid-April) works for FloHoops, as well. But only through the FloSports app on my TV - it won't let me log in on the website on my laptop. Super weird. I wish this tournament was on ESPN+.

Falcons miss 13 or more lay-ups or shots within 2 feet of the basket. Too many fowls by us, but as usual, fowls not called on Creighton.
Over all good intensity on defense, but no killer instinct on offense. 3-point shooters missing badly. Good effort but still a lot to learn.

The Falcons were definitely out of sorts today, as many of our key players were non-factors offensively. Lexi Fleming has not been herself since her shoulder injury. We got no help from our bench. They just didn’t look like the Falcons we’ve seen all season long, with exception to the little spurt that gave us a 10-point lead in the first half. It was a downward spiral after that. They can still end on a good note tomorrow. Go Falcons!!!

Despite a losing record, I felt Creighton would be a tough opponent. They played well in the Big East and of course had to face UConn twice. The game was still winnable though. We took something like 30 more shots than Creighton but our shooting was just way off. We were successful in forcing a ton of Creighton turnovers but we also fouled a lot though some of which was at the end of the game in desperation. Tomorrow's game with Dayton will not be easier. They are 14-4 have a 6'5" Freshman Center and are experienced at the other positions. Like us they won the League but lost in the tourney. I was surprised that they lost badly today to N. Iowa.

Lexi did not have a good game. At one point she was 1-7 from the field. Kadie and Nyla kept us in the game, but the centers were 2-9 and Elissa had a lot of misses. Although I didn't see it or hear it well with the BGRSO announcer calling the game :-)

Anyway, Go Falcons tomorrow. I'll be listening.

With a shot advantage like that and a big, favorable margin on turnovers, BG should not have lost this game. It came down to poor shooting. I did not watch, but it sounds like not having Lexi as the threat she was earlier is having an effect on the entire team.
