What happens next?

I like and admire Coach Fralick, but there is a red flag concerning her recruiting. The women's regular season championship last year now appears to be a surprise due to a talented freshman class who got after other teams defensively, created turnovers, and shot well. That team also had two tough inside players. Those players are gone, and have not been replaced. Meanwhile, every other team in the MAC has gotten bigger, taller and stronger. BG has not, and seems unwilling or unable to recruit any height. And there is no longer a surprise factor.
As an example, the Buffalo women's team has eight players 6'1" or taller (six were 6'2" or taller). Plus one super guard, and two more coming along. We have one, maybe two players 6'1", and a top potential rebounder/inside scorer just left.

I think we’ll be fine. This year was a “down year” and we still finished in the middle of the MAC. I’d this is what the floor looks like for Fralick, we’re golden - because Fleming and Velasco together next year will be fantastic.

Agreed. I do think we need one big post player for defensive purposes, so I hope Fralick looks in the portal for that, but otherwise, we have an incredible lineup of guards and a couple of strong forwards. Assuming Lexi comes back at full strength, I think we're a top 3 team next season.

20/21 team had Glowiniak nd Perry as low post options offensively to keep the other teams honest...when they needed a bucket they could dump it inside and slow the things down. 21/22 was missing that . Getting Lexi back at close to her previous level along with Velasco will be huge. They really need to find a transfer big and Dziekan needs to strp up.

I watched every game at the MAC Tournament this year. The Falcons looked woefully unathletic compared to the other top teams…especially among the bigs. Not saying we need a athletic center, because MAC never gets those athletes. But we don’t have a Ali Mann or Lauren Prochaska on this team. Not expecting to find that level of talent, but that style of play at the 3 or 4.

Fralick's recruiting a red flag? Lexi Fleming was the MAC freshman of the year in 2021 and Amy Velasco was on the MAC all freshman team this season. Tate was also a strong freshman this season. BG needs height. Hopefully they find some in the transfer portal this offseason. Fralick is a strong recruiter and an excellent coach. BG will be fine.

I agree -- I am not worried in any way about this program under coach Fralick. It would be great to get a talented 6-1 or 6-2 player, but as someone else said, it's pretty rare that tall players with a ton of ability fall to the MAC programs.
And just because there aren't that many women's basketball threads, I'll post this here. At least four Buffalo players have entered the transfer portal, including All-MAC First-Teamer Dyaisha Fair and MAC Freshman of the Year Georgia Woolley. I'm guessing their top recruit, Donovan McNabb's daughter, also is not on Buffalo's roster when the 2022-23 season rolls around. I imagine it won't be too long before the paperwork is finalized and they all end up at Syracuse.
Also (and some of this is old news), Ball State's Sydney Freeman has entered the portal, and yet another CMU player has, too. Granted, none of those CMU players were all-league caliber, but I think they started 21-22 with 12 players, and this makes at least 5 who have entered the portal.

A review of last year's MAC Rosters showed 30 players at 6'2" and above. Most outside of Kent's Linsey Thall and Blackford and WMU's Riley Jacobson and Taylor Williams were role players for defense and/or rebounding. One interesting stat is that 7 of those players had in excess of 20 blocks on the season. Toledo's 6'5" transfer had 48. BG's leader was 12. I think that is the one thing we are missing--someone that will alter shots and provide D in the key. Adding one or two of these player types would go a long way to returning to the top of the conference.

As if CMU didn't have problems before ... a 6th player has entered the portal, and that player is Molly Davis, who is easily their best player. Things could get worse before they get better for Heather Oesterle, and that's really saying something, since they only won 4 games this season.

Great glue player. Reminds me a little of Lindsey Goldsberry from the Golden Era with Curt Miller. Not really the person to be the centerpiece, but a person who makes everyone else on the team better. Glad she's back.

BG has added 6’1 forward Allison Day from Loyola Chicago in the transfer portal. She’s from Russellville, OH.
Averaged 10+ points per game each of the past 3 seasons and scored over 1,000 points in her college career so far. First team All-MVC in 2021.

Kate Achter player. Love this addition. She’s 6’1” and can also handle the ball really well.

Hidden in this is the fact that Kate Achter's contract was not renewed. Day entering the transfer portal probably helped that along as Achter had her best season at 18-12 this year.
Anyway, 6'1" Day should help the Falcons.
