Wright State 11/14
Women are also playing Wright State this week, tipping off tonight at 7pm in the Stroh. This is weirdly their first time playing each other since 2001 (??). Wright St. had a few great years recently, but then their fantastic coach, Katrina Merriweather, was hired away to Memphis and they have been pretty horrible since then. They were 4-19 last year and opened this year with a 30+ point loss to TSUN. SHOULD be a 20+ point win for BG on paper, but that's why we play the games. Go Falcons!

Re: Wright State 11/14
This BG team should win this game. I'm hoping we can stack some wins up here early in the season. After tonight and Thursday at #11 Indiana, the schedule gets very interesting.
@ Southern Indiana
vs. Northern Kentucky
vs. Detroit
@ Valpo
@ East Tennessee State
@ IUPUI
@ Texas A&M-Commerce
@ UTRGV
vs. Findlay
Tell me - where is the loss before MAC play? Are we going to be 11-1 overall in the non-conference schedule?
Game is on ESPN+!

I think IUPUI on the road will be a challenge. They were 24-5 last year, did lose there top 2 scorers, and are only 1-2 this year thus far. One loss to Louisville, a close 2 point home loss to UIC and a win over Butler. Brought in a big bruiser from Ball State as a senior transfer. If it was at BG I wouldn't have much concern but I could see this being tough.

That's fair. I see that they beat us last year. I'm just trying to set my expectations for the season, and I noticed that the schedule isn't looking particularly daunting.fredthefalcon wrote: ↑Mon Nov 14, 2022 3:39 pm I think IUPUI on the road will be a challenge. Dominant offensive show in the first half. BG up 60-35. Wright St has no answer for anyone, but especially Nyla Hampton.

BG takes a snoozer over WSU, 102-72. Could have been even worse but they played about 15 people. Next up is a tall task, #11 Indiana who just took down Tennessee.

Re: Wright State 11/14
The 3 point shooting and free throw percentage looks scary by the box score but we were +14 in turnovers.
It's still a decision to pay $9.95 or wait until 12/1 before signing up. I'm thinking I will wait.

I love the way PG Velasco plays...really pressures the defense by pushing the ball in transition.

Between Velasco, Fleming and Hampton, BG is as point guard rich as any team in the MAC, and as deep as I can remember at BG in recent history.

Re: Wright State 11/14
Alison Day gives them a player who's comfortable working in the low post...they lacked a consistent presence down low last year. Establishing an inside threat will keep the defense honest nd lead to more open threes
