Vs. NIU 2/15

Post by BillyLP »

Not able to watch tonight, but WBB trails to a not so great NIU team at the half, 42-38. They were down by as much as 14 at one point, so hopefully they have some momentum going into the third quarter.

Allowing 53% from 3pt while shooting 19% won’t win you a lot of games. Lucky to be down 2 at this point.

Gotta just kinda tip your cap. When a team shoots this well from the field, there isn’t a whole lot you can do to stop it.

Exactly. NIU had a heck of a night shooting...and still only won by 5. In the grand scheme, it isn't the worst thing. Roadies at WMU and CMU next up.

Yep, no miracle finish here. 85-81 loss. Let's win 10 more!

Ugh. Seems like even the good programs are now finding ways to lose games at home against teams they should be beating.

I've seen this script before (mostly in hockey, football and men's basketball).

WNIT bound.

That's a bad loss,
5-29 from 3s and 43% from the floor. Too many open looks in the paint were missed.

Maybe a team should wear pink at their pink game. NIU did.
All is for the best in this best of all possible worlds.

Left a lot of shots short...usually that suggests fatigue. Our Achilles heel seems to be interior defense. Day is great offensively in the paint.,but she has trouble defensively with mobile bigs. Western's Taylor Williams had a game against us and Davis cut off a number of our runs last night with a bucket in the inside
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

It was likely they weren't going to win out the season, but this is not a great loss. If they could have finished out the season on the win-streak, they had an outside chance of getting an at-large big. Now it's win the MAC Tourney or bust. Hopefully the loss is a good reset and they can get on another heather through the end of the season.

Really tough game tonight. The shots simply did not fall and a really bad 1st quarter defensively.
Tate was in foul trouble 5 minutes into the game and really never got going.
Lots to learn from this game and nothing to be ashamed by this loss. Yes, NIU doesn't have a good record but they have talented shooters and strong, tough athletes.
BG needs to come out ready for a fight each game. It is clear the game plan to beat us is to get physical and try to push us around.

One thing of note came out of this game. The Women BB outdrew the Men in games this week. Men's Attendance 1510. Women's Attendance 1529. Hopefully another eyeopener for the new AD about the future directions of these two programs and leadership.
