Nice win at Akron

The BG Women got a nice road win at Akron last night behind 22 from Porter. Velasco, Sharps and Kohler were also in double digits.

The women now sit as the #5 seed with 5 games to go since Buffalo owns the tie breaker with us, but we get them at home next week. Other than that, the rest of the schedule is against the bottom half of the league, so a great chance to build momentum going into Cleveland.

The 3 seed is probably out of reach even if we run the table (Kent would have to finish 1-4), but getting the 4, 5 or 6 seed gives us a VERY winnable first round game in Cleveland, and then anything can happen from there!

Monster game from Porter... Akron had no answer for her inside. Zips were hitting 3's way above their season avg. They would have been blown out otherwise

Anyone see that the team added 5'8" G Kyla Smith from Gahanna Lincoln to the depleted roster. Evidently was found on the BG WBB Club Team. Looks like she might shoot the 3 but yesterday she saw seconds of action replacing Velasco to keep her out of a foul situation.

Was at the JAR last night....Akron was hot from 3 most of the game. At one point they had a better shooting % from 3 than 2 pt FGs. Every time we put a little distance from them, they came back. Porter was unstoppable all game.

Gutsy win...and to be tied for 4th in the league with all our injuries says quite a bit. This team won't quit.

Beat NIU.

I watched this game and yes, the score was closer than it should have been because they were unreal from 3pt. I think they said at one point that they were 10/18 from three when they are only 29% on the season. Porter was dominant and definitely carried the team. Kohler has a ton of offensive talent but she made some rookie mistakes all game. I saw Chmiel getting on her case pretty hard several times.
