MAC Tournament Thread

Post by mbenecke »

Game threads this year have not been super populated, so I figured I would start a thread where we could discuss the entirety of the MAC WBB tournament this week.

BG plays Buffalo at approximately 1:30pm on Wednesday, on ESPN+. Should we find a way to win, we will then play either Toledo or Western Michigan on Friday at 10:00am, also on ESPN+. The championship game will be on Saturday at 11:00am on CBSSN.

Let's see if we can bring back some of last year's March Magic and go on a run!

I’ll have to put the game on during the last class period of the day, which is study hall thankfully.

Spring break this week, so my son and I will be watching in the living room at home.

I’ll be watching March Madness games in the classroom next week.

First game went a little quicker than expected. Toledo trailed most of the game against WMU, then came back and pulled away in the 4th.

According to the Blade, tipoff for our game is slated for 1:20, about 10 minutes ahead of schedule.

This one might get ugly. We won’t guard anyone and they are hounding us on the other end. Being outworked at the moment.

Rough start. Down 10-3 in the first. Buffalo hitting their shots, playing better defense, forcing turnovers. BG has to get right quick.

Attended more games than any responsible student should have.

It’s 18-5. We have 4 turnovers and we’re shooting 2/10 from the field.

Really terrible first quarter. Lucky to only be down 9.

We’ve gotten as close as within 5 twice, but can’t get it any closer yet.

Buffalo leads 33-26 with about 3 minutes left in the first half.

At some point we need to build a rhythm that isn’t 1000% reliant on the three. It’s like they are playing as though they’re down 12 with 40 seconds left.

We aren’t big, nor are we good enough finishing around the rim to make that our identity. But we also don’t shoot well enough to chuck this many threes.

Feels like we’re caught between those items, and that’s why we finished middle of the MAC with basically a .500 record.

36-30 at the half. Like that we battled back and gave ourselves a chance in this one. Gonna have to be the team that works harder and takes better care of the ball in the 2nd half to advance.

Just can't get over the hump today...down 41-34.

And we just did! 43-41 BG! TO UB.

Awful mistake getting the ball in, down 2 with 20 seconds left.
