Post Season

Post by BigGibber »

Just found out about the WBIT – Women’s Basketball Invitational Tournament (don’t know how I missed it). Apparently, the NCAA has created a new 32 team tourney in an attempt to screw the WNIT. The bottom line is that the 32 bid WBIT and the 48 bid WNIT means 80 more teams will be playing post season BB. Surely BG has a shot.

The NCAA operates the NIT and WNIT, why would they want to screw the WNIT?

Why? No idea. But it's happening. The WBIT has become the new secondary tournament, cheapening the WNIT.

I'm happy we're still playing because the postseason is always fun, but the WNIT means less this year because of it.

The NCAA owns the NIT but not the WNIT. It has been trying to purchase it for years but the WNIT isn't interested. Officially the NCAA claims it was "...created to ensure equity between the NCAA's men's and women's basketball postseason opportunities, the WBIT does not replace any existing event and will instead be held as a separate NCAA-funded entity." Translation... "We'll crush you!"

Hinkle Fieldhouse is one of the best places to watch a game. 50/50 on being able to go on short notice.

Thank you for the information. I assumed the WNIT was like the NIT. you know what happens when you assume.
