Not a great loss. No bench points until :32 seconds left in the game isn’t going to cut it. Not a great start to the year.

2 embarrassing losses in the span of 5 days.

Lose to an inferior and historically bad Detroit Mercy team and then turnaround to a 25-point swing to lose a game that should’ve been one against a top mid-major.

There were women on this team who had offers to hit the portal for money and a step up but they chose to stay for the chance to win a MAC championship. Such a shame this coaching staff saw this year as a rebuilding year based on the recruiting class brought in.

There will be a brand new roster next year due to graduates and players already talking about transferring after the season.

They look...off. Too many long stretches where they play out of control.

I get your point but Cleveland State only got 2 points from its bench as well. That said I have seen little from this years' recruits particularly the two experienced players. I guess I was thinking with Coach Fred's contacts he would be able to add transfers from ACC or SEC schools looking for playing time. Other than Porter he has not.

My thoughts exactly. Ball State was able to add three Power 5 players. Toledo added two Power 5 players a few years ago. Seems to me that he wants to hit a home run with a diamond in the rough rather than just making easy contact for singles that could turn to more (if you can stay with that analogy :D )

From what I understand, he did have a couple of players from big schools willing to come here, but they weren't able to come up with any NIL funds to secure their commitment.

Glad they brought back the 50/50 raffle for the purpose of women’s sports NIL, then!

BG could be MUCH better at NIL in general. We’ve been slow to adapt, but I am hopeful it gets better and more organized moving forward. No idea how the House settlement is going to impact how things look if we have to start paying players directly from the department starting next year.

Not sure on that one. I know they hosted reigning Horizon League Freshman of the Year Carter McCray from Northern Kentucky who ended up choosing Wisconsin. Other than that, it didn’t sound like there was a whole lot of activity going on.

Now that my frustration from this game is gone and my pessimism is less prevalent, I do think this team will be okay when Fleming and McGuff come back. Fleming will bring outside shooting and energy. McGuff will bring some defense and attacking rebounds. I think this team can end up going around 18-12 with a top 4 finish in the conference.

Agreed, need to remember that this team is still missing its best player.
