1/1 at Kent State

Even though the game is over, I'm starting a thread just for giggles. BGSU lost at Kent State 81-71 today. Not a horrible loss in that it was a road game against the team picked to finish second in the MAC, but very frustrating in that it was right there for the taking. BGSU shot terribly in the first half but trailed by only 3 at the half. Then, Kent went on a little run in the second half, going ahead by as many as 15. BGSU got within four but no closer.

No one on the team shot particularly well. Fleming scored 17, but was 3-12 from the arc. Velasco could not get shots to fall and finished in single digits for the first time all year. Porter really struggled (before fouling out) and Moxey really seemed to labor getting up and down the court.

Some bright spots: Jasmine Fearne had maybe the best game I've ever seen her play, and McGuff seems to be getting better each game. She (McGuff) looked like she was trying to do too much in the Duquesne game, but seemed to play more to her strengths today. Both McGuff and Fearne had 11 points.

Velasco, for all of her shooting struggles, had eight assists, and Donahue had a couple of really nice steals.

The next two games are at home, with a 1-10 EMU team coming to BG on Saturday. Then, next Wednesday is a home game vs. Buffalo -- the Bulls are undefeated but have played absolutely no one.

Great points made! A few things that hurt was going small in the 3rd quarter where Kent threw it into the post for 6-8 easy points. Was a pretty sloppy game all around from watching on TV and think we can get back on track against EMU.
