Chmiel

Starting a topic on some of the threads where discussions on coaches can be had. Some of the comments get lost in game posts.

I think next season is crucial for him...the team seems to have regressed a little as the season has worn on.

Other than Kohler...at at times Donahue and Porter...his recruits haven't been too impressive

Agreed. And remember that Donahue is a Fralick recruit. I have said multiple times on threads that he goes for raw talent, diamond in the rough recruits so that he can put their development on his resume. It hasn't worked out so far so we will see if any of them blossom or if he changes his recruiting tactic.

I haven't heard any rumblings from the men's side but sounds like on the women's side that no one is guaranteed to be returning in terms of the roster. There are a handful for sure leaving, a handful leaning towards leaving, and only a few that plan on staying because of specific circumstances. If he can hit the portal well this off-season, I will be a little more optimistic for the future.

I just don't think this staff as it is now recruits well. His recruits that contribute are Porter (on some nights) and Kohler. That's it. Against Ball State the bench contributed 2 points for the game. Where is the scoring depth and where will it come from next year. He was also outcoached by the Toledo coach who's background and experience on a resume basis does not compare.

Credit where it’s due - hell of a road win at Arkansas State today.

Very true. He was quick to make the defensive adjustment to get out of the zone when Arkansas State hit 6 threes in the first 6 minutes. Even the announcers were shocked that we were running zone against one of the best shooting teams in the country. Donahue with a heck of a game, especially with layups after struggling at Ball State. I was getting frustrated that Chmiel wasn't calling timeouts in the press, but it helped to hang on to them at the end of the game.

Really nice win...built a lead..lost it and gutted it out at the end. Build on the momentum and get to Cleveland
