at NIU 3/1

Falcons are at Northern Illinois tomorrow. BGSU won the first meeting, 74-60, at the Stroh. I was at that game, but TBH I remember very little about it.
NIU is 5-10 and really needs this game to have a chance at a MAC Tournament berth. When you look at their results, they make no sense. They won at Toledo in the MAC opener, then lost at home to Ohio. They beat Kent State at home earlier this month, but have lost their last 3 coming into tomorrow's game. Those 3 losses include a loss at Ohio (they got swept by OU) and a home loss to EMU (Eastern's only MAC win so far).
It's their Senior Day, and they really, really need this game to have a shot at the tourney (they are two games behind both CMU and WMU with three games to go), but I feel like if we can get out to a good start, we have a chance to break their spirit early. We've been playing really well the last few games. Hopefully it continues.

Outscored by 13 in the 4th and heading to overtime after an awful turnover with 11 seconds left.

That was a pathetic loss to a bad team. I get that it was on the road, but come on. Completely ends all momentum we had, and we’re searching again.
Come on, BG.

Not even taking the score or chance to win into consideration, Chmiel’s behavior that got him ejected was an embarrassment to the program, his players, the fans, and the school. Had Porter and the assistants not used all their strength to drag him back and toward the locker room, it sure looked like he was going to assault the female ref who called the technicals. He was not in control of his emotions and those emotions were out for blood. I hope I’m overreacting, but as a father of 3 daughters, they wouldn’t be playing for him. It was unsettling.

Not the best moment in Chmiel's tenure here...but I think it's a bit much to say he was going to assault someone...especially a player or official.
Thy let NIU back into he game...no excuse for that, but that inbounds TO late happened because NIU bodied Lexi and knocked her off balance..shouild have been a foul

Let's not go judging the behavior of BGSU employees. Nobody has been held accountable since Jans.

Your comment in this message board is an embarrassment to yourself and all those who know you. Just based off of your comment here, your daughters will never be close enough to sniff an NAIA basketball court let alone a D1 court under Coach Chmiel. You are soft and an embarrassment of a father. As a fan of BG I was not embarrassed by his actions in fact, that female referee deserved everything and more he said and did to her. In fact, I am disappointed he did not take it further than he did. Her 10 calls against BG should be reviewed and she should be demoted to the local division 2 elementary games.

Jesus, man. Maybe I overreacted. That’s okay, I’m human. And you’re correct, my daughters very likely won’t play college hoops. They’re pretty short and more musically and artisticlally inclined than athletic (in your parlance, I imagine you’d use the term “faggy” or something similar). Unfortunately, I’m not as soft as I could be. I just don’t like the feeling of lotion on my skin and I bathe with boring old bar soap, not the fancy stuff that requires a luffa. I’m open to suggestions for alternatives, though! You seem to have it figured out, and for that, I’m happy for you! Good job, sport!

Silver lining - in the grand scheme of things it doesn't impact our tourney seed all that much as even winning out didn't guarantee us getting above the #6 seed.
We are all but locked into the 6 seed now.

Just went back and watched the game. We shouldn't have given up the lead by any means but when we did, the officials wanted to be Senior Night Heroes. I talked with one of our fans who was at the game and this is what he said.
"Velasco hit a 2-point basket with 9 seconds left in 2OT. It should have been a 3, but they did not review it." I went to that part in the broadcast and agreed that it should have been a 3 because her feet were behind the line.
"After that shot, NIU called a timeout. However, they had no timeouts remaining. You get 4 timeouts and an additional 1 for each overtime. NIU used 3 timeouts in the 4th quarter. That means they have 1 going into OT plus the additional one granted. They used 1 with 23 seconds left in OT. That means they have 1 going into 2OT plus the additional one granted. They used one with 49 seconds left in 2OT, one with 13 seconds left in 2OT, AND ANOTHER ONE with 8 seconds left in 2 OT." I went throughout the game to see if timeouts were called at each time of play that the play-by-play said it was and all of that was correct.
"Velasco's 2 which should have been a 3 would've cut the game to 82-78. Calling a timeout with no timeouts should have resulted in a technical foul against NIU which would have given us 2 free throws to cut the game to 82-80. We would then get the ball down 2 with 8 seconds left to tie or win the game."
Yes, we did shoot ourselves in the foot but all the officials had to do was review the play and then also issue a technical for using a timeout when there are none left.

Watching the stream when it happened, I thought Velasco's shot was a three, but when they only gave two points I just assumed I was incorrect, and I figured after all of the chaos that had just taken place, it didn't really matter. I had no idea about the timeouts, though. That definitely would have made things interesting!
