MAC TOURNAMENT (3/11-3/14)

It's March, why not throw a tournament thread together?
Our 7th seeded Falcons will head into Cleveland having won 5 of 7 down the stretch. We will open the tournament against #2 seed (and defending MAC tournament champion) Ball State at approximately 4:00pm on Wednesday, March 11. That game will be available to stream on ESPN+. BG lost the only regular season matchup with Ball State in Muncie on Valentine's Day, 82-67.
With an upset win, our Falcons would play the winner of #3 UMass vs. #6 Toledo in the semifinals early on Friday afternoon at about 12:30pm, also streaming on ESPN+. BG split the season series with Toledo and lost to UMass by just 1 on the road in the only matchup against them this season, so if we get through the quarterfinals, we will have a chance in the semis.
If we got through the semis, we would play for our first MAC tournament championship since 2011 on Saturday morning at 11:00am, which would be available to watch on CBSSN. #1 Miami, #4 CMU, #5 Ohio, and #8 Kent State are on the other side of the bracket, as potential opponents for that game.
Let's make a run! Go Falcons!

Down 14 at halftime. Pretty pathetic showing.

Ended up losing by 12.
Chmiel is 51-42 in 3 years here, without a single MAC tournament win. I have serious doubts about the future of this program with him in charge, and I don’t think he’s going to be able to fix it. Feels like we’re just waiting on a change.
This program has now gone 15 years without a MAC tournament championship. It deserves much, much better.

Not to be. With the alarming NIL post earlier and the rousing interest in WBB this season, I’m guessing we’ll be down to 4 or 5 posters next season.

I really want them to be good. I really do.
I honestly want Fred to win here. He seems like a good guy. It just feels like it’s not going to happen, and that’s doing a number on the fanbase. This should be a championship-level program. We won 30 games in 2023! Fans should demand excellence, this program is capable of that.

It’s tough to watch after getting spoiled during the Miller years and Fralick’s success

Things don't look bright for next year if Kohler is in fact leaving

Am I wrong or do we currently have no incoming freshmen committed for next year?

You are wrong. They currently have three incoming freshmen for next season.
Sophie Alexander - 5-6 PG from Victoria, Australia
Mar Segura - 5-11 G from Spain.
Kayla Stidham - 6-0 SG/W from Hamilton Southeastern High School - Fishers, Indiana She hit 6 threes in the game that I watched live of hers.
As far as all the talk about players possibly leaving. That is their business and should not be discussed or projected on a fan site. Several players were listed last year yet returned as Falcons this past year. Just my opinion.
As far as the lack of talk on this site, I tend to stay away from it because I hate the negativity. So many comments start, I didn't watch the game, but.
I will go back into my cubby hole and avoid this site for awhile.

I agree, I don't love the talk about players possibly leaving. I'd like them all to stay at BGSU for all 4 (or 5, or 6 during covid) years. And, it is definitely their business. But, when the team's leading scorer, who is technically a junior, decides to participate in Senior Day festivities, you can't blame people for wanting to discuss it. In my mind, that's different than the "My friend heard from a friend of a friend that 14 people are entering the transfer portal" talk.

I would also argue this is just part of the discussion of college athletics now. The team that wins the national championship this year will probably lose 5 or 6 to the portal. Speculating whether people are leaving or staying is not inherently negative. In this particular case, it leans negative because the coaching staff has not exactly proven the ability to be as excellent as Fralick was, and it's okay for us to have that expectation at BG.

Players are getting paid, it's probably fair game to at least discuss it.

Definitely fair to discuss as long as its civil. Transferring is such a big part of the college game now, so I'd be surprised not to hear discussion.
