Yeah! Whahoooo!!!!!

Yeah baby! A senior comin' up big like a senior should! I tell ya , I thought we might be screwed once Ali sprained her ankle, but I knew the only way we were going to win was if Kelly came up big somewhere, and wouldn't ya know it she did! Man , game was hair raiser. Hammb and all of you girl basketball haters should be ashamed of yourselves!

You call this games boring??

Surley you jest!!
Yeah, Iam thouroghly dissappointed in the attendance! Not by the people who did come , like all of 300 some very quiet junior high school girls sitting on their duffs for most of the game, but by the students! Hardley any students! The attendance in numbers only wasn't bad at all , but no loud, rowdy SS or anything except us Anderson Animals. Is it that hard to freakin' get out of your bed by noon and walk 5 or 6 minutes to Anderson Arena for a game that you get in free for??? :duh: PITIFUL!!!
This was the last chance to see the falcon ladies at home for the year against the hated UT Rockets!! And you guys bombed out! These ladies are now one game from tying the whole MAC Championsip up for themselvses and most of you missed it! If your not coming to ladies games just because of no dunks , then you're all idiots! For the UT Lady Rockettes to have more fans than us (which I kind of doubt) when WE are in first place is pitiful!!!! Ahhh , finaly got that out of my system.
GO LADY FALCONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!WIN THE MAC!!!!!CRUSH THE HUSKIES!!!!

We're all fans and love the Falcons. Don't go around doggin those on your side just because they aren't able to go to every game. I get upset when fans don't wanna go to games, but it's there choice and it doesn't make them any less of fans.
Here's what I mean.....

I'm talking mainly to people who are coming to the mens game , but are not even making an effort to see the 1st place Lady Falcons!! Yeah, I know if your not a basketball fan at all then its obvious there's no chance of you coming to a game. Its the fans who claim to big fans of basketball or BG.

There is no reason to insult people who simply believe there are better things for them do to then attend a women's BB game. The university has a lot of Intercollegiate and Club sports, and even the best of BG supporters don't show up at all events. While I am sure everyone is glad to see the women win, it may not rank high enough to take up time from their lives. I am glad that you are able to make it to the games and cheer. Just don't come on here and insult those that don't. Until you attend all events you don't have the right. How many rugby games did you attend this year. While they are only club, I know they used to/still do compete for a national title. Who was at the womens swim meets. Last time I was at BG the only people at those were family and close friends.

That isn't a very good argument in my opinion. Swimming/gymnastics/etc. are not intended to be huge spectator sports here or anywhere else. Club sports are not inteded to be spectator sports either (they are there more to give students an opportunity to participate in sports competatively). Women's basketball, on the other hand, is intended to be a major spectator sport.
I think we all understand that community members can't make it to every game, and that is a big part of our attendence problem. Our student support, though, is abysmal. Throughout this year I have grown increasingly ashamed of the support our basketball teams get from our own students. I have been as guilty as anyone of not being able to make it to basketball games, but my reasons for not being at a game are ALWAYS, invariably, academic. There are a lot of students out there who choose to go and drink or play video games instead of going to the games -- more than enough to fill up the student section, I'd imagine...
And, there is absolutely NO reason to not support this women's team just as much as the men's. They are too good, and if anyone trys to tell you that women's basketball just isn't exciting, they either have not given it a chance or are sexist. Bottom line. If this team stunk I could at least understand that kind of apathy.

Oh, and Falconboy, do you think you could start to spell Kelly's name right? I mean, she has been here for five years...

You couldn't have written a better script for Kelly Kapferer's last game in Anderson Arena. She's probably the most popular player on the team, a distinction which is well deserved.

Bleeding, If you choose not to go to other sports, then you need to except that some (maybe lots) don't want to go to others. Lets face it, I doubt most students came to BG because of the sports to begin with. Gymnastics at many univeristy draws a decent crowd of 1-2 thousand, which isn't probably too far from our womens basketball games. Secondly just because it is a club team doesn't mean it doesn't derserve support. Here at UK the club hockey team draws great crowds from what I hear. I personally was not a big basketball fan, let alone womens when I was at school. I probably should change that now, having 3 daughters, I may be one of those parents in a short 14 years.
McMetz- great that you can make those events. Rugby matches are very exciting, I watched my dad dislocate his shoulder and seperate his knee in a match as a kid. Its a lot of fun.
I was thrilled for Kelly ...

She started the day off by singing the Star Spangled Banner ... quite well, I might add, then she finished it! She's been a great leader on the team this year despite not getting the playing time that she may have wanted. One thing that really impressed me is I read in the Blade today that the seniors all told Coach Miller that he did not have to start them just because they were seniors. They wanted to win the game that badly. Now that's what senior leadership is all about. We'll miss them. Hopefully they can get a 'W' at Northern Tuesday so they can have the MAC Title all to themselves. Then, let's go to the Gund and finish the job in the MAC Tournament! Then it will be off to the big dance! I'm stoked! Falconboy, it was nice to meet you Saturday ... and nice to see you finally got Kelly's last name right ... Kapferer (LOL ... just kidding with you)! See you at the Gund!

On the seniors' decision not to start)
"Tene, Sakima and I talked about it before we went to meet with coach. We just decided that we all know our roles. We're not the superstars, we're not the people that start every game. Why change it now? This is just another game. Sure, it's 'Senior Day,' but we want to win this game. We just decided that we would just continue in our roles. We wanted Ali, Liz (Honegger), Casey (McDowell), Kate and Carin (Horne) to do what they do."
TOTAL class....TOTAL team players. No wonder this program is gonna be THEE program for the next few years...and beyond. These Seniors set an awesome example of T E A M.
MAC CHAMPS tomorrow night after beating NIU!!!
GO FALCONS!!
BTW, Falconboy? I love your enthusiasm and was originally supposed to sell 50/50 tix for this game. But Mrs. Freak thought it would be nice for our family to be home for my birthday Sat. I REALLY wanted to be there....believe me. But living 2 1/2 hours from BG doesn't help either.

This year if I had to choose between the men and the women, I would much rather be at the women's home games. Ed and I only missed the Central Michigan game at home this year, and only because my dad passed away the Friday before so we had some family things to do, and we also made the trips to Toledo and Ball State. Planned on going up to Akron but that was the day after my dad died so going up to Akron just wasn't possible. I would like to go up to the Gund, but if our games are afternoon games I won't be able to get off work to go Wed and Thurs but Ed and I will definitely be there Saturday to watch us win the MAC Championship.
