Game 1: tu-2 BG-1
Game 2: BG-6 tu-2

Gina Rango hit her 15th career HR in the 2nd game which gives her the the school record! She's only a junior so I can't wait to see how many she finishes her career with. Did anyone make it to the games today??

Is 15 career home runs high or low for a school record, on the average in softball?

I don't know what the average is but Stacey Nuveman of UCLA (97, 99, and 2001-02) had 90 in her 264 game career. That would be the NCAA record. For a season, Arizona's Laura Espinoza has the record with 37 in 72 games in 1995.

Looking at that, one would have to say BG is sort of behind with power hitters which really is the case. We have a very fast and diverse team that is continuing to improve every year. A lot of our games seem to be won on pitching IMO rather than hitting which could maybe distinguish why we don't have girls hitting 25+ HR's a season.

The thing is, the home run just isn't as important a weapon as it is in baseball. Pitching, defense and the ability to move runners tend to be the bread and butter of most good collegiate softball teams.

Probably a good reason for the lower scores most games :D If you see any team scoring over 4-5 in a game, they had a good day!

It's also just statistically more difficult to hit a 12" ball farther than a 6".

Significantly, considerably, maybe even physically, but not statistically!
