Miller Withdraws Name From Colorado State Search
Bowling Green State University women's basketball head coach Curt
Miller has withdrawn his name from consideration for the head-coaching
job at Colorado State University.
"We have something special going on here at Bowling Green," said
Miller. "Colorado State is a great school with a tremendous
basketball tradition. I was flattered that they contacted me, and
appreciated the opportunity to speak with them. They have a great
program, and I wish them the best."
"But, I am very excited about the future and direction of the BGSU
program, and I look forward to continuing to build upon what we have
started."
Miller recently completed his fourth season at the BGSU helm, and has
a record of 65-53, including a 44-18 mark over the past two years. He
guided the Falcons to the Mid-American Conference regular-season and
tournament titles in 2005, and the five starters from that team
included a freshman, three sophomores and a junior.
"We had the youngest starting lineup in the field of 64," said
Miller. "We will miss the leadership and contributions of our three
seniors (Kelly Kapferer, Tene Lewis and Sakima Smith), but we look
forward to preparations for the 2005-06 season."
Miller came to BGSU after spending three seasons as associate head
coach at Colorado State, under head coach (and BGSU alum) Tom Collen.
"We have hired some outstanding coaches here at Bowling Green," said
BGSU Director of Athletics Paul Krebs. "When you have outstanding
coaches, and when you have success, those coaches are going to be in
demand by other programs around the country.
"We are moving on, and I am excited about the future of our women's
basketball program with Curt Miller at the helm."
The Falcons finished the 2004-05 season with an overall record of 23-
8, and BGSU won the MAC's regular-season title with a 13-3 league
mark. The Brown and Orange won the Kraft MAC Tournament and qualified
for the NCAA Championships for the first time in 11 years.
BGSU's three sophomore starters -- Liz Honegger, Carin Horne and Ali
Mann -- each earned All-MAC honors in 2004-05. The Falcons' other two
starters, freshman Kate Achter and junior Casey McDowell, joined
Honegger on the MAC's All-Tournament Team, with Achter earning tourney
MVP honors.

I agree. We dodged a bullet on Coach Miller. Lets hope we can keep Jennifer, Brandy, and Kevin as well. I know we won't have them forever, but one more year is fine with meThe program is going in the right direction and now I hope we have some continuity with the coaching staff.

Actually the goal for next year is Sweet 16. I am so glad the Curt is staying. He is a great coach, a great guy and the team plays their hearts out for him. He has some unfinished buisness at BG so I'm not at lest surprised that he is staying here. Besides that would have been a lateral move, the money may have been a little better, but there are some things more important than money, like being at a place you love.

Good point, Michelle. BG had the youngest lineup in the entire NCAA tournament. It was nice to make the Dance...now it's time to do some damage in '05-06.BGSU96 wrote:"All right guys our next aim? 2005/06 Mac Champions and the NCAA Tourney agian!!"
