Julie Gompers Out

Post by Falconboy »

From the Sentinal via bgsufalcons.com

ROSTER UPDATE: Julie Gompers is unable to continue as a member of BG's team because of a medical condition, Miller said. Gompers played in 16 games two seasons ago, but missed all of last season.

Miller said Gompers, a high school standout in West Virginia, would remain on scholarship and be a student assistant coach for the team. Gompers has a 3.81 grade-point average at BG, majoring in pre-medicine.

I wondered if she was ever going to get any playing time with all the stellar talent we have guard anyway. I heard from another news article that Jasmine Macall has been tearing it up in practice. We are so loaded at guard its not funny.

I hope the "medical condition" is not too serious. Julie was a great bench asset for the team, and I'm happy to see that she will be getting to keep her scholarship and remain involved with the team. I hope she is OK!

Thanks for posting this, Falconboy.

i'm assuming this is the same nagging inury. it involved tendons or ligaments or something in her wrist. when she moved her wrist, it felt like, i dunno, gravel or something, on her skin.

Yeah -- her wrist and forearm were hard as a rock. Not in a muscular way, but in a....plastic type of way. It was a very bizarre injury/condition.

I will miss seeing her on the court but she will make a great student coach. She is a very intelligent young lady, I think she is a pre-med major, so I'm sure she will be very successful in whatever she decides to do after college.
