I didn't see this posted yet. I am sure the girls appreciated Metz and the other trumpets. On to the first round of the MAC tournament!

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green battled the nationally-ranked #20 Ohio Bobcats all night, but fell short 3-1. Junior Chrissy Gothke fell just one dig short of recording her eighth triple double of the season. The Whitehouse, Ohio native hit .385 with 10 kills and no errors to go along with her 23 assists and nine digs.

Freshman Chelsey Meek increased her season dig total to 433 with 18 digs against Ohio. Meek surpassed Angellette Love's 424 digs to rank as the fifth best season total in Bowling Green history. The all-time record for most digs in a season belongs to teammate Chrissy Gothke with 497 in 2003.

The Falcons struggled to slow down the Ohio attack as the Bobcats hit .383 in game one. Senior Emily Manser's game-high four kills was not enough to give Bowling Green the early lead, falling 30-22 in the opening act.

BGSU did themselves in during the second game, hitting just .021 in the 30-17 defeat. The Brown and Orange fell victim to an early 4-13 disadvantage and could not recover. Meek managed to dig eight balls in the losing effort.

There was a feeling of déjà vu for the Falcons coming out of the locker room. The situation was similar to the Ohio State match earlier this season, the last time BGSU played a ranked opponent in Anderson Arena. Trailing 0-2 at the break, Head Coach Denise Van De Walle rallied her troops and the Falcons came out hot in game three. Senior Ashlei Nofzinger let the Bobcats know the match was not over right away, belting back-to-back kills to start game three.

The Brown and Orange led nearly the entire game, however with a 29-26 lead an Ohio kill followed by a block forced Coach Van De Walle to call a timeout at 29-28. The pause in action proved to be beneficial as the next Bobcat attack sailed out of bounds to give the Falcons a 30-28 win, just the fourth game Ohio has lost in the MAC this season.

Just as the Falcons had responded in game three, Ohio did the same in game number four. Sophomore Stephanie Swiger's five kills on seven swings was not enough as Ohio took an insurmountable lead and finished off the match 30-21.

Bowling Green finishes the regular season with a 17-13 overall record and an 8-8 mark in the MAC. The Falcons have earned the right to host a first round MAC tournament game Tuesday night (Nov. 15) at 7 PM in Anderson Arena. Check back at bgsufalcons.com Sunday night to see who the Falcons' opponent will be!

Yeah, no noise makers are allowed. At anytime during any part of the match. So we played Ay-Zig and the Fight Song afterwards. Oh well. Still a decent crowd that showed a lot of noise.

I'd like to state that I am "classless," too. Some lady came over and told all the Animals that after the Hey Song came on over the loud speaker and we did the you suck part. If that makes us classless, that lady needs to get to a hockey game and listen to the student section there.

I think the volleyball team should try to get basketball recruit Sarah Clapper to change her mind about strictly playing basketball.

Yesterday Clapper led Newark Catholic to the state finals by serving seven straight points. Not sure how they faired today in the State Final. but Clapper has been the best player on the Greenwave for a couple years now. Depending on today's outcome they are 29-0. She had 16 kills and 17 digs in the semi final match.

*Edit* Newark Catholic lost in five sets to Lehman Catholic.

I was at the volleyball game too. It was my roommate who came over an told you you were classless. The only thing we have a problem with was the "you suck" part when the canned music was playing the "Hey" song. Maybe I'm too old school but that doesn't have to be part of being a fan. Don't get me wrong I think it's great that some students were at the volleyball game cheering the Falcons on. But it can be done without resorting to that particular chant.

As to your comment about going to hockey and hearing the students, well that's just it, that's hockey not women's volleyball. Like I said earlier, maybe I'm too old school. I don't want to see women's sports fans in general have some of the crassness of some fans in men's athletics. Let me just say that I am a season ticket holder in both men's and women's basketball and have been for well over 20 years. There are ways to cheer and support your team being positive about it.

I'll get off my soapbox now.
