Hannah Baker to Join Falcon Program
Curt Miller announces addition of Brownsburg, Ind., native to recruiting class.

Nov. 22, 2005

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University women's basketball head coach Curt Miller has announced the addition of one student-athlete to the Falcons' recruiting class. Hannah Baker (Brownsburg, Ind.) will join the Falcon for the 2006-07 academic year.

"We are very excited that Hannah has chosen to attend Bowling Green State University and join our program," said Miller. "She is a versatile center that can bang under the basket but also has face-up range."

Baker, a 6-3 center, is a senior at Brownsburg High School. She averaged 15.0 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.8 blocked shots as a junior, shooting 52 percent from the field. Baker helped the Bulldogs to a 17-6 record, earning All-West First Team honors from the Indianapolis Star. Last summer, she was also named to the Indiana Junior All-Star Central squad.

Baker's honors also include being named to the All-County (Hendricks County) and All-Hoosier Crossroads Conference teams.

"I believe Hannah has a bright future, and her best days are ahead of her," said Miller. "She will have the luxury of gaining valuable experience her first year at BGSU, playing alongside senior centers Liz Honegger and Amber Flynn. Hannah and I have discussed possibly redshirting her first season, allowing her the opportunity to step right into the rotation after the graduation of Honegger and Flynn.

"Hannah has established herself as one of the best centers in Indiana. She not only excels on the court, but is also an excellent student, looking to major in pre-vet during her days at BGSU."

The addition of Baker brings the Falcons' recruiting class to four. Tara Breske (Temperance, Mich.), Laura Bugher (Greenwood, Ind.) and Sarah Clapper (Newark, Ohio) signed with the Falcons last week.

The Falcons, the 2005 Mid-American Conference regular-season and tournament champions, are off to a 2-0 start in the 2005-06 season. BGSU will head to Baker's home state for this weekend's Hampton Inn Classic, hosted by Indiana University. The Falcons will open tourney play with a Friday (Nov. 25) game vs. IUPUI.

Sounds like a good get for BG. Finally a little extra size at center for us at center. This '06 class looks pretty good. :D

Indeed. Thanks for the link, UK.

This program is possibly on the verge of a dynasty. They are AWESOME and Coach Miller and his staff are truly a great staff.

I was just telling a woman I work with that BG is quickly becoming a powerhouse in women's b-ball. I don't think she entirely believed me, though. Perhaps she will when we are in the Elite Eight this year...
