BG just smashed IU at their own tournament 68-50. Wow.
Congrats to the ladies on a very very impressive start to the season.

Maybe now some people around here will start showing up to support this team. Since BG fans are candy-ass front runners**

way to go ladies! that's both the men and women who've played spoiler to tournament hosts this season. the last score i saw was 53-35, and i couldn't get the radio feed to work. it also kept IU's coach from her 100th win at IU.

i'm very excited about women's basketball this year. this is great prep for the upcoming mac season. i think the ladies will finish strong, in spite of the fact that we don't have anyone 6-7 (like IU does).

Congratulations to the B.G. Women!!!!!!

I hope more people start coming out to watch them. They are definitely a lot of fun to watch - and have some great new freshmen this year. The next home game is December 6th. You won't be disappointed if you show up ( like I just was at the Hockey game tonight - when I left early because I just couldn't take it anymore.) :(

I don't know what IU is expected to do, but just like the men's win at Va Tech, it's damn impressive (even more so with the way the ladies ran away with it).

Liz Honegger was named tourney MVP, and Achter and Horne also made the all-tournament team.

I was confused about that, too, unless it's a six player "team".

It did remind me of the year the men's team played in the IU men's tournament, gave the Hoosiers a good run in the title game and landed more players on the all-tourney team than IU did. (AD, SKR, and maybe Komives?)

EDIT: Actually, AD, Stacey and Larranaga made the all-tourney team that year... http://www.bgsu.edu/offices/sa/athletic ... sults.html

Indiana played Baylor (NAtional Champs) the first game of the year AT Baylor and lost by about 11 points.

Then we beat them on their home court. I agree- this could be a VERY special season!

They are really great to watch and watching Coach Miller isn't QUITE as much fun as watching DD, but he has his moments!!!! :)

That Baylor game was at Indiana, but even so... IU's other loss was by 13 to 15th ranked Notre Dame. This was a very impressive performance for BG.

Also of note, apparently we aren't the only ones with disappointing women's basketball attendance. Last night's was listed at 685.

Mmmm.....interesting. I wouldn't have thought that a B10 team like Indiana would have attendance that low , but then they were like 7-16 or something like that last year so they aren't the best in B10 by any stretch yet. But our ladies are coming off a 20+ win season and a NCAA berth and we should be getting at least 1100 or so at the games this season.

BG's men's basketball had a long association with St. Joe's dating from Harold Anderson's days until early in Weinert's coaching tenure. It was a great rivalry (home and home) and got BG some attention in the east. Watching a game in the Palestra in Philadephia is a treat. I think they've done a bit of work on the old barn in recent years. If you want a place with a lot of tradition, it's the Palestra. St. Joe's also has its own, smaller, gym. I don't know where the women are playing.
