The Lima News reports today that 6'2" Lima (OH) Bath senior post Jessica Vorst is considering Bowling Green, Central Michigan and Dayton as possible next stops to continue her education and basketball career.
She is averaging 16.1 points and 10.4 rebounds so far this year. She is described as a versatile player who runs the court very well, can step out and make the jumper out to three point range and also bang around inside. On an encouraging note, her teammates are quoted as saying she is a vocal leader and was welcomed as a key member of the team after her family moved into the district. Her numbers have been steadily improving all year. Bath has won five in a row and is 7-3.
I will get an up close look at this player when our team faces off with the Wildcats. Don't know if we will get this potential spring signee, but she sounds like a good one.
Go Falcons!

The last girl that we got from Bath was a pretty good player for the Falcons. Sherry Kahle came from Bath, and she was a freshman all MAC player, and some thought she should have been the freshman of the year. Bath produces some really good players, and if we can get Vorst, it would be a really good pickup.

Interesting. Sounds like a nice prospect. What kind of HS name is Bath? I've never heard of that before. :-\

As HoustonFalcon pointed out, Sherry Kayle was also from Lima Bath. She played at BG while I was there and she was pretty dang good too. Sherry used to hang out with us quite a bit becasue I was good friends with Jacki Raterman, who was also on the team at the time. Anyways, Bath is on the northern side of Lima.

She can join Carin as the only Lima players on our team. We need to recruit some future inside help for Mckenzie and this girl sounds like a good one.

Oh, I think our old long snapper Ryan Diepenbrock was also from Lima Bath.

Oh yeah, I remember Jackie Raterman!

Those were the old days! I don't remember many games from those times as I was kid back then and only saw the women probably as double headers with the men. But there are some names I remember though like Sara Putoff (if thats how you spell it) and Kim Griech.

Yup, that's the time period. I hung with Sara Puthoff as well.

For those interested, I saw Sherry about a month ago. She is doing well. She lives in South Carolina, and is working at a golf course in sales. She is thinking about going back into teaching again. We are talking about running a summer basketball camp up there this summer. That was a very good team that we had back then. You are correct, Deipenbroch was from Bath and came out the same year, as also Matt Best on the Baseball team, and one girl on the softball team, but the name slips me right now. Bath is the name of the township and school. It is only called Lima Bath because people have really only heard of Lima most of the time, so it gets added on to the name. From what I've heard of this Vorst kid, she is a good recruit for BG. I really hope she signs and can contribute nicely in the next couple of years.

I think falconboy should buzz on down south on I-75 about 30 miles, go to Lima Bath for a girls game (arrive at halftime, of course) and not only educate himself on NW Ohio geography, but give us a scouting report on her. My guess is that she will be too short, too slow etc, but only he could tell us that. Isn't our women's team a little "undersized" for his tastes?

Former Falcon QB Rich Dackin was from Lima Bath as well.
