If anyone is watching ESPN2 right now, the US Figure Skating Championships are on, and Alissa Czisny is about to skate. They just did a very nice piece on her and her family. They mentioned how she is a student at BG, and travels to Detroit everyday for practice. If anyone is watching, she is about to go.

She missed two of her jumps. Not a real great start. It is only the first day of the competition. She just got her scores and she is 4th right now. She is only a point away from the third place spot. Not sure how many more skaters are left to go, but she isn't totally out of a shot of the second and third at this point.

How many spots are left for the USA team?

It's the first day of the competition. They take the top three for the olympic team. But since Michelle Kwan isn't skating, she is trying to appeal and make the team just because she's Michelle Kwan. So there are probably two spots open. Today was the short portion of the program.

The announcers sound disappointed that she didn't have a better performance it kind of sounds like they think she deserves to be in oneof the top spots. Lets hope she performs better Saturday.

Well, unfortunately she didn't do much better last night. She fell a couple times and that about did her in. I will tell you what though...I don't know a ton about figure skating but out of all the ladies that skated last night, she had the best spins, best looking lay-outs, and best stretches. Yes you have to hit all the jumps to win at this level but she has certainly got a ton of promise!!
Lot's of mentions of her being a deans list student at Bowling Green!!
Good luck to Alissa down the road. All the Falcons on this board support you!

Yeah, Allissa certainly has got the talent , the announcers made some comments about her needing some better refinement in her jumps to be more sucessfull at this level. She's still got time though , the world championships are every year and she'll only be 22 when the next Olympics comes around.
