For a while it looked like we might run away with it but Kent battled back and got some fouls on Kate and Honneger and almost won but we held them to a wild shot at the end.

Wow....what an effort by BG. Kent came back with a fury after falling behind 37-22 at the half. Great to see Metz and all the Anderson Animals there!
Huge 3 pt shot by Carin Horne with the shot clock down to 1 that gave BG a 58-53 lead with about 2 1/2 min left. BG was up 59-58 with 20 seconds left and Casey McDowell ripped down a huge rebound. Jasmine McCall was fouled with 10 seconds left and calmly sank both FT's.
Kent superwoman Lindsay Shearer missed a 3 at the buzzer and we had a big ole celebration! FINALLY, a win at Kent! Ali Mann led BG with 19 points.

Falcons now 12-2, 3-0 MAC with Ohio coming in to AA Wed to start a stretch of 4 home games out of the next 5. Home cookin' at AA!

GO FALCONS!!

what a fun game, and it's great that we were able to pull out the win in spite of the officiating. kate's fourth and fifth fouls were BS, and that jump ball in the first? gimme a break.
even though our shooting went cold in the second half, and ksu came around (like you know they'd have to), we played solid D to seal the win. we outrebounded the flashes 43-40. carin's three, a VERY deep three (she was a good 4-5 feet off of the arc) was HUGE. and the freshman mccall sank those two free throwsthe defense played well through most of the game. kent made ZERO three point baskets. great defense, and you can't understate the importance of a win on the road, especially against the flayshes.
great turnout by our fans, too. if there were 1400 folks there (that has to include the 150 or so high school bandsmen), we had to have brought close to 500.
i wish i didn't live so far away from this team! a great group to watch.

Screw you MAC Center. Man it was good to finally get a win in that place. Maybe we're starting our own streak against Kent to repay them for the last 10+ years they've dominated us.

Like Jaco said -- the officiating was downright terrible. That might be the most poorly officiated game I've ever seen, and that's sayin' something. Liz got punched in the face on her fifth foul as she tipped the entry pass away from Shearer. I didn't know getting slapped in the teeth was a foul now. The "lady" ref and the bald dude (who is always terrible) were fawning over shearer with their whistles all night like she was Micheal freakin' Jordan. Pathetic.

The most promising sign is that other than that 5-10 minute stretch midway through the first half, when we got the lead out to double digits, we really didn't play that great. The defense was the worst it's been all year for most of the second half, and we settled for way too many long jump shots. We missed a lot of wide open looks early in the game also. The fact that we didn't play our best game, and still beat the second best team in the East at their house is a great sign of things to come.

Crowd was awesome -- hats off to Casey's Dad and the rest of the parents. Those guys are awesome and follow their girls almost everywhere. It was great to see the Freak and Josh and also John (Thanks for the ride Metz). We were louder than their fans for almost the entire game. Hopefully we'll see a good crowd for these next few home games, starting with the kittens on Wednesday. It'll be nice to finally have some home games to go to.

This was a huge game in terms of winning the East, and it was great to see the ladies battle the way they did.
