How do we go about getting a LARGE, rowdy, student section at that game? :?:

Good question. I'm still wondering the same thing for our men's games too. My best guess can't be done, but can be summed up in one word. Beer. Otherwise, I have no idea anymore. They're already getting in free (paid fees), so who knows what can be done for the women's games or the men. It actually makes me sad because when I was in school not long ago and even as recent as several years ago, this issue wasn't a concern or a problem like it is now.

I wonder if any posters on here were involved with the new gang at the WMU game? Maybe if they or some of the Animals could stump around campus this week if they have time. Put up some flyers on BBs in the union, BA, Olscamp, dorms, etc. Tell all your lazy-ass friends to come hang out at AA for a couple hours. Do whatever you have to. If they come to this game and see the talent level on both teams, they just might get hooked and keep coming back.

This game is our last best chance to hook people on this team. Those who are still students...please do whatever you can to get your classmates out on Wednesday night. We need a loud student section to help our ladies stay undefeated. [/stump speech]

I absolutely agree with Jacobs4heisman, we need to do everything we possibly can to get people inside Anderson Arena Wednesday night. This game is the most critical game the Women's Basketball team has played since the 2005 Mac Championship, and maybe the biggest they will play all season (since going undefeated through conference locks up at least an at-large big to NC's).

The crowd we had at Anderson for the game against WMU on Saturday was absolutely pathetic. As a student of Bowling Green State University, I swear I will do everything I can to hype up this game Wednesday night. We need people in the seats. Really, it shouldn't be a hard sell, we're 16-2, facing a team that is undefeated in conference, in a game that will determine who will be the #1 seed going into the MAC tournament. It's on a Wednesday night, so the students of BGSU won't have any excuses about not coming, unless they are completely lame and try to go with the homework excuse (which is a favorite of my fellow honors students inside Harshman-Dunbar). If that happens, I have to question our motives as a student body.

Let's face it, if we have paltry attendance again on Wednesday night vs EMU, I will be forced to conclude that the student body of BGSU does not give a crap about our women's basketball team, which doesn't bode well for any of our other teams.

Well I can't make it thanks to class and work. Guess that means all the students are slackers and not worthy of their orange and brown hoodies.

Wednesday nights are also Dance Marathon meeting nights and you all know there are TONS of active people who would go to the game involved in that project. Let alone classes.

Get your RA's to take the entire floor to the game. Ask your hall council to sponsor a whomever takes the most to the game floor - win something! a popcorn night and a movie?

Tell everyone you know in every class you take. Have no shame, well have some sense! :duh:

Use sidewalk chalk. Sacrifice a bed sheet and spray paint (not in your room!)

If you know Greek's get them to out do the others in their chapter shirts or whatever. (Wasn't Greek- don't know what to call anything!) Tell the Greek girls to support 25 years of NCAA Women's basketball and that they have the ability to compete if they so chose.

Ok- sorry for the soapox- It's the BGSU Marketing classes in me!!!!And years of school projects done on the cheap!

PS. Will our BG NEWS write anything about us having a game and its importance? I know they are not cheerleaders (heaven forbid) but quotes in the article from the coach or fellow students can portray the need for a crowd.

Letter to the editor anyone? Nicely stated of course?

I do everything I can for every game on campus. People in general just seem lazy and completely not concerned with the sports around here. There have been a couple of glimmers of hope here lately though: scUM/BG hockey game was huge and awesome in every way; slUT/BG men's basketball game was another awesome game; and todays game krAKRON/BG men's basketball while disappointing b/c of the loss was still awesome as far as fan support goes. All of these games were a lot of fun to be at because of the energy you get in a crowd and atmosphere like AA and the Ice Arena. I will continue to try my hardest to get my peers into the seats. I think all they really need is to experience how awesome it actually is to be in there screaming your head off and then they'll be hooked. Keep fighting the good fight everyone!

Awesome ideas. I wish I was still a student so I had time to pull some off. Actually I wish I had done more to get people to games when I was still connected to the campus. Oh well, I just hope the current students pick up the slack and run with it. I have a good feeling for Wednesday night.

Hey male students -- carry a picture of Suzy Merchant around with you and tell all the guys you know where she'll be wednesday night :)

Yes, that could be the secret!!! :D Dang how come I didn't think of that. Unfortuantely I don't have good vibes about Wed. , we have never had good attendance at mid-week games. I hope I'm wrong. It be awesome if we could get 2,000 in there this Wed. BTW , how well is the ladies team being advertised around campus, the Union and such?

I've been telling people about coming to the game. Same stupid reason.. Homework... I have homework.. but i'll just do it around 10pm instead of 7... We do need to get a big crowd there..

You know I'll be there..

This is the one game I wish was on a Saturday this year. I remember looking at the sked when it came out and seeing when the EMU game would be.

I'll be listening and in the chat room for sure...>This is gonna be an excellent game.

GO FALCONS!!

No offense Niz, but that's a lie. Everything you can do is go over to the marketing department, coaches offices, etc. and find any flyer or poster they have and will let you hang up. Then you go to the office of Res Life and get them all stamped so you can pass them out/hang them in dorms. Then you go to the Union and get them stamped there as well so you can hang them around in the Union (but only on the Union boards).

I did this for many games last year and it didn't help the attendance at all. People just don't care and like you said, are lazy. They would rather sleep in so they don't have their hangover or drink through the afternoon than come to a game. Some might read this and think it sucks, but it's the truth. My guess is that 1% of the student population is using that time to study, 5% to play video games, etc. Until we start winning, people are uninterested and there is nothing we can do about it.

Nothing besides putting up a free beer stand by the huge wall and locking the end doors and locking the entrance doors from the outside. That way they have to come into the arena to the farthest point and then can't get out. It's golden...

Would be interesting to have someone run a survey like that in the dorms while a game was going on. Go door to door and ask what they're doing that moment, and why they're not at said game.
