I feel that way about the Incredibles show, though at least I didn't have to conduct. And I'm sure the band is thankful for that too...

Ugh, yeah.... I liked the show in theory, but in practice it was not cool at all. Marching in 5/4 and 3/4 SUCKS.

The music was pretty fun though.
It's not necessarily marching in 3/4 and 5/4 that sucks, it was the way we marched those meters that sucked. I think if we would have just marched quarter notes the whole time, it would have been a lot better.

I agree with Jason.

As for my favorite high school show, I would have to say it was the show that we did a Latin show using Malaguena, Aztec Fire, and maybe Touched by Fire (I don't remember for sure because we did Malaguena and Aztec Fire several times). I loved homecoming because we always did script Carey (yes we ripped off OSU's script Ohio) to French National Defile. I also like our Jackson 5 show and our cartoon show (which 2 other shows did the same year).

As for college, my favorite is a toss-up between Frontiers and I Hear America Singing. Frontiers was just...cool. Everything worked so well together and it was my first taste of how powerful a band can be. Not to mention it is a show that I can still probably march half of it without too many problems ;-) .

I Hear America Singing was just amazing. The crowd response was overwhelming; it was so incredible to hear the crowd literally roar for us. The Men's Chorus was phenomenal...well, I'm biased because I love hearing hot men who can sing. They really did a great job though. I love patriotic music as well, so it made it that much more special. Lastly, that show is the only show that I have cried while watching it on tape. I hate crying, but that show moved me to tears. Any show that can evoke that much emotion is outstanding.

Best show, that's a tuff one. I think the best show I've marched was when we debuted Bohemain Rasphody at that marching band festival in '04 (yes I'm picky and anal enough to narrow it down to a single performance). I remember Gio and I standing on the far sideline waiting to go, looking at each other and saying "Man, we're going to blow the roof off this joint". Then blowing the roof off the press box with the opening move.

Favorite show (not best performed) is hands down Frontiers. Loved the music, loved the drill, loved the crowd reaction, plus it was really cool that it was for that band.

Nothing from High School stands out. We were good, but the best I ever did in HS was just about on par with some of the lesser shows I marched in the FMB.

My favorite was in 1992(?) when we did the big band show for the strongsville / midpark halftime show. Tom Dean and Dave Weiser were the GAs that year - their shows were awesome. It was Dave's show we took on the road....I think it was the bid band show....it got the most spontaneous incredible standing ovation I have ever experienced...I still remember the drill - we were in a block triangle and then we did a follow the leader out of it into a back and forth swirl, and then we all crammed in a 2 step block right on the 50 and shook the stands. It was friggin' awesome....and then we played like two more songs. and ruined the effect of the ending...but i digress.
We played hte show the next day at the ruber bowel and they didn't give us sh1t in the way of applause. Maybe we were spoiled from the previous day.

SING SING SING baby! I wish we would have sounded better that year. We had some pretty decent drills (Thank you, Sparky)

I remember the Rubber Bowl show. There were about 14 people in attendance so that's the reason for the smattering of applause. And besides, it was Akron in the early 90's. They weren't used to quality marching bands.

I have to do the cross-over step kick from Big Noise whenever I hear the song. There was like 400 trombones that year(1992)

I have to say, that Frontiers probably would have been a lot better if we didnt perform 17 mother-fu205ing times!!! I was so sick of that entire show that I just wanted to quit band when it was all over.....

fortunately I did not have to make that decision!

Especially when you have to backstep most of it.
