Yes, just like Jason wrote drill for us this year, from afar. Not sure if Jason will continue to do drill this year.

I'd love it if he did (I am in awe of Jason's drill-writing) but I can see how it would be hard for him to continue indefinitely. He does have a band of his own.

Does this mean that Ryan has a job outside of BGSU nest year????? I hope not, the CMA needs to scoop him up and give him a salary because he is just that darn good. Possibly this generation's John Williams, in my not so humble opinion

In the year between his undergrad and grad work at BG, I believe he worked with a junior high band, yes? I think that's what he really wants to do, if I remember right. Sad for us though, but yay for him. (If I'm mistaken, I welcome corrections.)

Flicc, I think you are correct. I'm sure he enjoys it here at BG, but I agree that this isn't what he really wants to do. For selfish reasons I hope he would stay around, but I can't fault him for leaving. I hope that he continues to arrange/write (not just for us, but in general) wherever he goes. That man has a real talent there. I would pay money to get something he arranged or wrote for my band! Good luck to him where ever the wind may take him.

Yes it sad to see him go, but look at it from his standpoint. He's reached something of an impass here at BGSU. We don't offer a doctorial program in anything he'd proably want to pursue, and there's no way he'd be promoted within the CMA. I for one, wish him well in whatever he chooses to pursue. It's been great having him here at BG, but he's surely got other plans and I wish him all the best.

*side note* I enjoy working with middle school kids too. In some ways I almost perfer them to high school. There is an appeal to working with that age group. I originally entered school to teach high school level, but it wouldn't surprise me if I ended up spenging a large part of my career in the middle school ranks.

i couldn't take it...but i guess that's why i'm not a mued major...i love to teach, but i don't think music is one of those things. theory...maybe...not band...i'm too much of a perfectionist to be able to teach band...but that's just me. i'll be sad to see Ryan go too...but he'll be around...we all know that. He can't leave this place for good...
