It's not the "Man in the Box" part that is horrible. It's whatever it is they play afterwards. The PA system is horrible. I actually think the band playing it would be really cool. The Niz wrote:I was actually thinking about writing Man in the Box out for the pep band to play. Guess I'll keep that one to myself.

As far as things to play to get the crowd involved, I think there was plenty of that tonight. The cheers were well timed and not over-done, and during the 2nd-3rd period intermission, the whole student section sang along to "Hey Baby" as well as responding well to "Sweet Caroline". I plan on requesting that they play it again next game around the same time. I'm no expert on bands, or if this is even feasible, but is that a song the band could look into?

I know at least 5 people who would love you for it, and from the sound of it, many more would be pretty happy.

I thought the band actually did a pretty good job tonight. Now, for someone to go smack the "DJ" around a little bit to get rid of the last thing they play after the opposing team gets a penalty (the "Wah, wah, wah".....or however it goes)...it sounds like absolute crap on the PA and actually hurts to listen to. Now, a band member playing it clearly would be cool

well we actually do play it real quietly(since we're technically suppose to play it) after its played on the craptastic PA system. But im sure if it were communicated properly the band could take it over, its fairly simple to play. Just half steps down with a litle shake on the last note.
And i actually heard one or two of the trumpets playing man i n the box. Maybe if they wrote it down, we could do it as a whole trumpet section or even band cheer.

Preach it, brotha. I never had a problem with bandos...until this whole conversation got started. I'd rather see an A-band comprised of 6 people who truly care rather than see 30 people who could really give a crap and are spending the game time planning their career in some municipal symphony.Falcons4Life wrote:Hey A-Band you want some cheese!!!

for the last men's game at home i'd say 95% percent of the Aband was cheering most of the game for the team. After all this discussion on here things seemed to change. hope it continues to games this week. It is a different a-band then the last men's game so i am also hoping they are loud and cheerful like the one this past wednesday.Falcons4Life wrote:Hey A-Band you want some cheese!!!

To their defense, I think some people are simply playing devil's advocate. I love that game.Bleeding Orange wrote:Preach it, brotha. And F4L, I'm not trying to come down on any one person in particular. I guess it is just the overall attitude that I am disappointed in. In my time at BG, the A-bands were always, loud, proud, and involved. It made games in the Ice Arena and Anderson EXTRA special. It saddens me that things seem to have changed, but, I am relying on second-hand accounts, too.
