I was at the MCB and found it odd that they had a band in the stands but not on the field. But from what I was told by a N'western alum, a very large percentage of their students live quite a distance from Chicago.

Oh, and what was with the two girls who led that band? It looked like their job was to wear funny hats and do the chicken dance while the band played? [They did sound pretty good, though]

I thought that was kinda bizarre too. They did have an actual drum major directing... but apparently it's a tradition for them to have weird-hat-chicken-dancers as well.

'Course, I guess that's not much weirder than our percs randomly starting to tap out the cadences with forks and spoons on their water glasses at Band Banquet.... and the entire band joining in with the motions and sound effects. :wink: Best. Thing. Ever.

You know you're a band geek when the precs start playing cadances on forks and water glasses during dinner at band banquet, and you start dancing without missing a bite of dessert.

I love Band!!!!
