Bingo! It should be a natural thing for the vets to see someone struggling and to help them out. As a vet, when not in a leadership position, you get the same frustrations as the nugeyes. Sometimes people just need to step up and "take the nugeyes under their Falcon wings!"FliccGirl wrote:If several people have problems or questions at the same time, it seems like that's when the vets need to be leaders, too (which is perhaps what Doc H is trying to do with the maggots). And that's true for any section.
Fundamentals week can be killer for some of the people just coming in because of their different styles from past bands and even the size of the bands they have been in. The new people don't know what to expect so it should take more than just your normal leadership to be leaders and help people fit in. The way I've always seen it is that the leadership is there to teach, enhance, discipline and bring the section together. The vets should use these same principles but make it fun atmosphere so no one feels uncomfortable.
So Strouse and all the rest of you, if you see a kid struggling, take him to the side and help him out!
