We definitely wouldn't get into trouble, but I think we can find something a bit more amusing to play than Three Blind Mice.SaxyGirl85 wrote:I LOVE September...and if I remember correctly, you have the same part we do...if they take out anything, take out the stuff we didn't play like Karate and whatever those other songs were we never/couldn't play. September rocks!Godsgirlerific wrote: Maybe it could replace "September"... I love the actual song, but our arrangement of it is such a crowd spirit killer... not to mention less-than-exciting to play (which could be an understatement depending on which section you ask).
I think we'd get in trouble for playing 3 Blind Mice anyway...cuz that's kinda like...slanderish...I dunno.

The whole point of the "Three Blind Mice" is to also have a group that goes along with it that dresses up and walks around like they are blind. They can start dancing around when there is a bad call, or even when the refs come onto the court at the beginning of the game and after half time. The song itself just won't work.

In HS, we played the Looney Tunes theme whenever the Other team took the court, because they "ran around in circles." FYI, alot of traditions end rather abruptly, and I hate it. BRING BACK BEER PREGAME! And let MUMB play Hey Song, without renaming it, Low Brass
. I mean, we even HAVE the words written in. My HS is banned from playing a few songs... Eye of the Tiger. That one ALMOST caused a riot in our Gymnasium. (our arch-rival's mascot is the Tiger, so BAD things happenned to Tiger-looking objects....)
Banning stuff and censoring is BAD. Harry Potter banned.... control-freak. Same goes for anything else. I call on the 1st Amendment

It's just BAND and MUSIC. That's it. People need to get some thicker skin, or go live in a cave somewhere where you will be alone and you wont have to listen to music, or see anything that might remotely offend you. I just wanna slap those people who gripe about things because it doesnt go their way.
... I was there when they banned "hey!" which was complete bollocks! The woman who called that in should've been told, "Oh, well, if your offended by it -- DEAL. ... oh and SHUT UP."
"Hey band, I forgot my toothpaste - Well, this bar soap gets things clean too... Hmmmm."

Yes, because it shows how classy we are when all you hear is a crowd saying "we're gonna kick the $hit out of you." Thats how I want BGSU represented.

Who in college was always "classy?" Get real, saying Hey you suck is a lot better than other things we could yell during games! It's the Journey... wrote:Yes, because it shows how classy we are when all you hear is a crowd saying "we're gonna kick the $hit out of you." There would not be a problem if "you SUCK" was said. And thats not the part I am talking about. The arrangement Rohr had us play attempted to cover that section up but it didn't work.

The part you were talking about only happened at hockey and maybe football games. None the less, those are both rowdy environments and a lot worse are said. It's the Journey... wrote:There would not be a problem if "you SUCK" was said. And thats not the part I am talking about. yes, but they are not started or encouraged by an official representative of BGSU.

The band doesn't start cheers. I don't see how we encourage them either. Instigate might be a better word. The fans start the cheers, and if the fans aren't official representatives of BGSU, then why care what example they are setting? It's the Journey... wrote:yes, but they are not started or encouraged by an official representative of BGSU.

Mike, how many times have you known an audible majority of the crowd to break out into the "Hey Song" without prompting? The fans are not official representatives of BGSU because the University does not sponsor them. The College of Musical Arts does sponsor the Falcon Marching Band, making it an official representative of BGSU.
