You're suprised by this?Falconfliccbone wrote:I really hate to say this, but last year's one-week wonder of the Hip FMB show had the biggest crowd response. Apparently seeing band kids dance is more entertaining to college kids than phenonmenal music and marching.
that is about what i was thinking. Since Wisconsin is bringing their band to cleveland also we will have to do a smaller show. week after we can do the entire show the first game at the doyt, so it's sorta different but not. but everything else sounds about how i think we'll do things. We have 7 performance(not including any post season, if it happens) 4 at the doyt and 3 on the road. so we can do a new show for every doyt game and the ones one the road can be repeats... sounds good to meFliccGirl wrote:Am I missing something? I don't see a one-week wonder on this schedule.
There are two weeks between the start of classes and the Wisconsin game (assuming the FMB travels to Cleveland), not counting Fundies Week.
Then a week later is a home game against Buffalo, but they'll probably march the same show since the Wisconsin game isn't in the Doyt.
Two weeks later is the KSU home game.
Two weeks after that is the OSU game (assuming the FMB travels to Columbus).
A week later, they'll probably march the same show at Homecoming.
That gives them three weeks to come up with the end-of-the-season show for the Miami game.
A week after that they'll probably march the same show at Toledo, and (if miracles occur) at the MACC a week after that.
Yes? No?
Maybe, but not necessarily. We didn't shorten our show when we travelled to OSU in 2003 or Toledo in 2004 and two bands took the field. But you're right, I don't think we ever DIDN'T shorten the show when we hosted another band in the 4 years I marched. Of course, since this one won't be in the Doyt, so who knows?FMBfan07 wrote: Since Wisconsin is bringing their band to cleveland also we will have to do a smaller show.
Its not seeing band kids dance....it is engergy, familiarity with the songs, and letting go of this idea that marching band is Bach in motion.....watch Drumline....sure it was a bad version of what marching band really is, but if we can one thing from those Jerkwads at Robert Morris it is this.....I really hate to say this, but last year's one-week wonder of the Hip FMB show had the biggest crowd response. Apparently seeing band kids dance is more entertaining to college kids than phenonmenal music and marching.
Falcons4Life wrote:I am firmly of the opinion that marching band is at a football game for ENTERTAINMENT!!! Therefore give the fans what they want! If it was a competition band and their primary focus was band contests then fine...but that is not the FMB...they do nothing more that BGSU Falcon Football halftime shows...therefore your customer base is FOOTBALL FANS who will watch the band if it is good....not MARCHING BAND FANS who will watch the football team if it is good!
Until then that is realized...HALFTIME=HOT DOGS!
Yeah. You could have a giant plant eat the drum major.Rabbit wrote:I agree. Ugh, don't get me started about competition bands and the egomaniac band directors who want to make band a competitive sport.
You can entertain with quality music and drills - you don't have to dance to entertain!
Who was drum major in 2001? *curiosity is piqued* (Would I even know who they were, since I didn't march until 2002?)Falcons4Life wrote:THe problem with that idea is that in past years we couldn't find a plant that would eat them and not throw them back up!!!
