High School, BG anything....what is the best show you have ever done.....

you can seperate it and say favorite music, and then best feild show!

and....to answer my own question:

I have a couple: In high school we did a 'grease' show which would have otherwise been lame as crap, but all the girls had poodle skirts, the guys had leather jackets and rolled up jeans, and the drill team were dressed as the pink ladies! It was so much fun....and the senior guys got to dance with the pink ladies....which frankly was more action than I got in all of high school (save the comments on that one )

There was never as show that was great from start to finish in the three years I marched in high school.....the best was the movie show of 2002 (The Rock, Zorro, and Diamonds) if we would have played robin hood then instead of 2001...that would have been orgasmic! As far as marching...that movie show also wins....when we had giant line across the field (dont remember the lamo term for it) during the Rock....that is why I came back for year three....thats all I can say....

I would have a toss-up here.

The John Williams show was simply awesome in score, drill, and execution. That was '91.

The other was a Christian Rock show we did - I believe it was 89 or something. The score was pretty good. The drill was excellent (Brian Nutting is my hero). But it was performed at the first night game at the Doyt. Third largest crowd ever with over 32,000 people there.
You should have heard them with the twirlers lit their batons......which the beautiful twirler boss Stephanie and I had a great chuckle after her issue with her lighter.

I also really liked the Corn Fed concerto show also performed in '91. We blew the WVU band right off the field.......of course we got a smattering of boos because of the musical choice. Hicks have no humor.

We didn't have a marching band in my high school, so I'll just draw from my experience in the FMB.

Most challenging for where the band was: Dave's movie show from 2002.
That show was a complete 180 from the rest of Dr T's lukewarm shows that we marched that year, in my opinion anyway. It definitely opened my eyes to what we could actually do if given the opportunity.

Best drill/music: Frontiers, 2003.
This may not have been the best executed show we did in my four years, but it was the most objectively challenging-- not necessarily the most challenging for where we were at the time, but in general.

Best crowd reaction: I Hear America singing, 2004.
Couldn't have been otherwise. September 11 with patriotic music and the men's chorus to boot? I know it was kinda cheesy, but it worked.

Most all-around fun: Bohemian rhapsody, 2004.
I miss this show. It was just fun, not too challenging, but challenging enough that we couldn't slack off. And there was little or no drama associated with it, amazingly enough!! People didn't get too pissy at each other while learning it.

For sure... that Sandi Patti show was very cool. Same year, (I think) I really liked the West Side Story show... for the music. MAMBO! Also dug the first show of 89.... Sing Sing Sing, Caravan... what else... it's the show that lined Maryellen up in front of me. The rest, as they say, is history!

Also loved The Score... don't remember what else was in that show (wasn't too memorable) but that tune, the arrangement of it just rocked.

OK... also the Chicago show (89 again). Maybe not the show so much, but Matt Frost doing the Jimmy Pankow bone vamp at the end of Beginnings was spot-on!

Rambling....

Best show in high school, every year we would do a fireworks show. The lights in the stadium went out, some had glow sticks, the twirlers twirled fire, there were pyrotechnics on the field and then the show ended with fireworks in the sky. Sr. year we did The Final Countdown as part of our fireworks show. It totally rocked! The mellophones had a great part and it was high school, so I only knew one volume level... FFF!

Oh I have to pick the Little Shop of Horros show, only because it was awesome music and the plant ate pat Pearson...very cool. That was in maybe '87 or '88?

Best drill was the Disney show in '87 or '88, hated the music though. Best music was the Phil Collins show in '86.

With The Score show had some Miami Sound Machine (1-2-3-4!) music and sumthin else. Don't remember that part.

I forgot the big band show in 90. It was played a LOT better than the big band show in 92.....when the band sounded like chit. Thank you SPARKY the turkish bus driver!

Wasn't one of the other songs 'Conga' and the drummers started off by yelling 'Don't Drink the water'? That was cool...I thought that show was earlier before your time like in '86. I forget how many years you are behind me???

high school i think my favorite was my freshman years competition show 1998- Nutville, Pallookaville, Tiger of San Pedro, and Georgia on My Mind

for the FMB, for music/drill i would say Frontiers. it was sweet, just watched it the other day. but just for music I really liked the broadway now show from this past season[/code][/list]

Conga WAS earlier, because I had the cassette tape of the '86 band when I was in High School and used to drive around listening to it in my car. (GEEK!!!) The most amazing version of "In The Stone" was on that same tape... damn... wonder if I still have that?

Oh I forgot about that one - In The Stone was awesome! I also remember the drill to 'Somewhere' - it was something like 256 counts of FTL ....it was a pain to do but really cool when we nailed it. Shoot, I wish they'd reslease those old FMB tapes as CDs now. Heck, now that I think about it, I never did pick up the tape to my senior recital LOL. I wonder if they still have it.. I paid for it - it was only 16 years ago

I loved SUPERMAN (1991). That will always be my favorite show. No. Matter. What.

I do remember dancing with Mark to the big band show. That was some good music! I also remember how we forgot the 'cue' to dance when doing the concert at Kobacker... oh well...

I have no memories of other shows unless I hear them. I loved show with Rocky Top in it... that was my second-favorite show!!!!

I know WHY you loved the superman show.

I don't remember dancing with you for any reason. Since I'm such a p!ss poor dancer, it doesn't surprise me that I blocked the experience from my mind.

I HATED the Firebird show we did for the last game of the season and the Silver Bowl ('91). [expletive] mixed meter can suck my @ss. I couldn't even conduct electricity during that show. Screwing that up plus marching 5 to 5 didn't make for a pleasant experience for me.

I feel that way about the Incredibles show, though at least I didn't have to conduct. And I'm sure the band is thankful for that too...

Ugh, yeah.... I liked the show in theory, but in practice it was not cool at all. Marching in 5/4 and 3/4 SUCKS.

The music was pretty fun though.
