Yeah, you all think your situations are sad as relocated BGers. But are you at a school whose name has recently been changed to the University of Toledo College of Medicine? I think not.

Poor, misguided MCO. *shakes head sadly*

You have my DEEPEST condolences. But on the bright side, at least UT has one good thing going for it now. I just finished listening to "I Hear America Singing" from the 2004 CD. It still gives me goose bumps when I hear it and remember that performance. The place was electric before it was even half way over. One that note, does anyone have a copy of "Frontiers" that I could get my hands on? I loved that show as well. I can't wait to see an awesome pre-game and halftime show in Cleveland.

The Sun ALWAYS Shines on the Falcon Marching Band!!!!! :D

I have "Frontiers" on my computer as well as on CD. I'm not super internet literate, so I don't know how would be easiest to get you a copy.

As for FliccGirl's request, this is what I've heard so far from current bandies (man, I hate not being in band and referring to myself as a former member of the FMB):
110 nugeyes, representing about half of the band, which I've heard will range from 210 to 250 (high estimate I believe).
24 fliccs with 10 vets
21 clarinets with 11 vets
12 trombones with 5 vets (only 1 with more than 1 year of experience)
roughly 30 saxes, combining both tenor and alto.

They also had to change around the schedule to better accomodate BGeXperience. Due to this, they are making the block on Wednesday night, meaning that all the marching and playing auditions are being shoved into 2 days for the vets, and only 3 days for the nugeyes. Because of this conflict, Dr. Hayward wanted to fit the nugeyes first, but the uniform committee fought them on that. In addition, the key for the boiler room is currently MIA, so uniforms will be fitted in a different area.

All this chaos can only mean one thing: it's marching band season!!

Thanks for the info. :)

Chaos, indeed. At least they have nice weather for it.

Edited to add: I just noticed your avatar, Cayla. I think I'm probably the only person on the face of the planet who can read it.

well i should be in bed since practice starts at 8:30am on the field but thought i'd let u no how the first vet day went, well for me. What a tiring day and we only started marching around 4pm. LOL. tomorrow a full day, hopefully i get back in to the swing of things. Alot of being on the field tomorrow beause of what cayla said. So that should be a great time. the nugeyes look really good glad to see so many.

on mybgsu where u can look at courses and then roster it says 211 people. Dr. Hayward said there was 110 nugeyes (i think) and that would leave 101 vets.

euph section has 12 total, 8 returning and 4 vets.

but nothing to exciting has been mentioned yet, we'll see. I guess the star spangled banner fanfare from I hear America Singing is being added to pregame and the shape (BG, Falcon Head) is going to be something we never did before either. So we'll have to see what that is. Pregame and halftime star going on the field thursday. can't wait!

will update after tomorrow if anything new... it's my birthday so i get to hear some lovely cymbals crashes... argh.

Actually, the real bright side is that I'll be able to use my "Rocket Card" (gag) to get into the Glass Bowl on 11/21, while dressed in orange and brown.

Those sounds like some fun shows. And with my season tickets I will get to see each one. Also, how much is the BSexperience screwing with rehersal this year? There has been some mention but can I get some more details?

Here's my feelings towards the shows.
Coming Soon to a Stadium Near You- Good music, great movies, and I think the audience will really like it.

Kickin' Brass- Personally, I'm scared. I'm a woodwind, so anything with brass in the title innately scares me. I'm not a huge big band or jazz person, so I tend to dislike shows which feature that music exclusively (although Latin jazz is fun). My hope is that the FMB will surprise me and do a show that makes me proud and that I will enjoy. See, I'm thinking positively here.

Rent- I loved the movie and the music is phenomenal. But for a marching show, it will be interesting. I know Rent was very popular with students this past year, although I'm not sure that the Rent crowd is the same as the football crowd. Depending on the arrangements and songs selected, this could be a really good show.

Bon Jovi- I think this show will be a hit. Bon Jovi is a group that our parents are familiar with, and current students also know their music, both new and old material. Bon Jovi has a lot of appeal. Their latest song, "Who Says You Can't Go Home", did very well this summer on both the pop and country charts (the latter being a duet with Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles). I'm interested to see the songs that will be featured. I think "Livin' on a Prayer", "Shot Through the Heart", and "It's My Life" would be a great trio. I think this show will be fun.

Does anyone know if Ryan Nowlin is doing all the arrangements this year? I also heard a rumor that Jason Sivill is doing the drill for one of the shows. If so, which show? I think the Rent show would have a ton of potential if it is a Nowlin-Sivill special. Looks like it should be a fun and interesting season for the FMB.

Suddenly feeling very, very old. I remember seeing them live back in '86 (ACK! 20 YEARS AGO!)

umm well not 2 much. today vets got a 3.5 hr break because of bgexperience. tomorrow we get a 2 hour break or something around that. so we get a nice break, but thats time we could be finishing pregame and getting the first show on the field.

alright back to band
