I have never seen Wisconsin live

We killed them. More entertaining, nicer sound, less lame marching style.

not to mention WE DON'T USE MUSIC!!

I don't understand
a. how they march like that and play
b. how they march like that, play, AND carry lyres!!

craptastic, at best. GO FALCONS!

Amen

Did you watch the snare drums??? They looked ridiculous. I did NOT like their band as much as I thought. I bought the tickets to see both bands. I could have watched the game at home, but not the bands. Got sick of hearing their drumline noodle around the entire game.

MY HS played On Wisconsin for our fight song, so I have a fond spot in my heart for that tune, but I didn't even like how they played it in stop time. Like every note was staccato or the melody was filled with rests in between each note.

I loved the fact that during their pre-game, one of the camera guys got a close up shot of their music.

The Falcon Marching Band used to carry their music during performances. That was one of the things I did not like when I was in the band. I remember Mr. Hayes getting upset with me when I was on the field during a rehearsal and my music was not in sight.

Same here. The ban has only ben performing without lyres for about four years.
I didn't use my lyre on game days, and not much after the first or second day of learning a show.

Rehearsal is one thing, a performance is completely different. You carry your music during rehearsal so you can memorize it with the sets on the field. However, because you should be doing that, you shouldn't need the music during performances. That's all I was getting at.

But that is what he is saying. In the not to distant past, when I marched in 1995, it was REQUIRED to have your music on the field at every performance. As it was explained to us this went back a number of years. If the music is right in front of you there is no excuse to mess up. And if you don't have to worry about messing up the music you can focus on marching more, thus not messing that up either. I'm not defending the position, just explaining the theory as it was explained in 1995.

Ah, I understand it now. Thanks Journey! But to me though, if you have your music in front of you, you'll want to just look at that so that you can play every note right, thus screwing up the form. But that's just my thought on it, so no harm done!!

WE HAD FIRE TORCHES. I love Fire Batons and torches. There is always that element of impending disaster!!! And we had that great ship formation!

As the Tuba Cheer for the guard said: "FIRE!! BAD!!" :P J/K, the guard and twirlers did an amazing job from what I could tell from my place on the field. The band members around me did an amazing job as well. For those that weren't able to see our half-time show, we will be performing the same one this coming Saturday in The Doyt against Buffalo.

No they haven't been axed yet...although I guess there have been a few restrictions placed on them from Dr. Hayward. Which basically means that they won't get ugly until the Miami game.

She doesn't even listen to them anyways, so as long as you don't hurt anyone's feelings she'll never know; and what momma don't know won't hurt her.
