Has the new CD been released?

My wife and I were on campus Monday on personal business...which obviously had to include a visit to the bookstore to see what new stuff is around. I asked specifically whether or not we had any "musical bottle openers" (my son and daughter, both OSU grads have them). The darn things play the OSU fight song (note I didn't say THE OSU fight song). Anyway, the gist of the conversation with the chief buyer is that she can't afford to buy the large minimum numbers of chips they use in these things and can't come up with any other ideas as to how to use them if they did buy them. (I've seen Christmas ties since with music chips for example)
The other topic was actually raised by her... and that was the fact there are no more FMB CD's (PRIDE) available for sale, and that she hoped the music dept. would make some available again this year. Since I was the PRIMARY complainer about not having ANY CD's the last time, and a conversation with a former classmate on the alum board resulted in PRIDE, I"m wondering if any of the current FMB membrers have heard of the possibility of making the new CD available to the public again.
Oh, and if anyone has an idea how these chips could be used to make musical items for the bookstore to sell, please call or email to them.

You
might be able to obtain a copy of the "Sounds of the Stadium" (the yearly Marching Band concert) recording from Recording Services, 0114 Moore Music Arts Center, (419)372-8405.[/quote]

Jaco,
Thanks for the info..in the past, which is why I pitched a bitch years ago, this was NOT available to general public, allegedly due to royalty probs. Would like to see us do AT LEAST ONE new one and release it every other year, if need be.

Dr. Hayward told us during recording sessions this year that within the next couple of years they are hoping to finish obtaining copyright priveleges and put together a 'best of FMB' cd. I believe the idea is to have all the best music from the last four to five years available on a cd at the bookstore. It won't be this year though. Songs that are absolutely positive to be on that cd: Frontiers, I hear America Singing, Bohemian Rhapsody, The Incredibles, and Rent. There will most likely be others but any guesses would only be speculation.

Niz,
Again, thanks for the response...it SOUNDED as if the bookstore buyer anticipated getting new CD's, possibly this year...but not definite...this helps clarify things a bit...I just wish they'd speed it up...anyone able to "burn" me a copy of this year's CD?

No one has this year's CD...probably won't be in students' hands until March or later.

When we get the cd, I'm sure someone will be able to copy it for you. There are several people already on this board who would like copies. The only thing that's really holding us back are the copyright priveleges. Once those are out of the way (which can be a very difficult task) the cd will come out.

I have a stuffed Freddie Falcon I take on the road with me for college fairs. So many students come up and play with the wings because they think he'll play a song (I've seen a 'Brutus the Nut' that plays Across the Field when you squeeze his hand).

In actuality, it was the alumni who distributed the PRIDE cd. It was released my freshman year and all the songs were taken from BEFORE my time. They may have been quality issues linked to that, if you get my drift. Anyhow... Pitch a fit with the alums and I bet we will see something sooner. Apparently it's hard for the music department to get the rights every year, or so I've heard.
