National Championship: Bands at Halftime...

So the BCS is doing the wonderful thing of showing all of the bands during the chamionship bowls. While I realize that Television can make it difficult to look good, but 'tbdbitl' was god-awful. They pulled a page out of our book from earlier this year and played He's a pirate right after the horrendous showing of the Titanic theme. He's a Pirate sounded horrible and looked worse. They looked to be struggling just to stay in step on the tv. Thank god it ended so quickly.

My father, who stoutly believs that OSU has the greatest marching band in the world, took it upon himselfto call me as soon as they got off the tv and let me know how much better he thought we had performed the pirate song than them. I realize it was a very short clip which showed very little of what was going on, but damn am I proud right now.

Please excuse me while I drain some of the ego out of my head before it explodes.

I was shocked that the Buckeyes chose to play "My Heart Will Go On." I know the FMB has played ballads before, but not for a game like this. Maybe it was appropriate for them, meaning that they will love their football team even if they get killed.

I had to laugh because my littlest sister called me right after they showed the Buckeyes playing the ballad and she was laughing about it because it was so ridiculous. She also thought it was terribly ironic that they were playing "He's a Pirate". As for why ours sounded better....it's the woodwinds!! :-D

Woodwinds? Nah. It's because deep down, we're really better. Jut not hyped up to be mroe than we are.

Though the woodwinds do add to the Symphonic sound of the Falcon Marching Band, and thats cool too.

save the rain forests....burn a woodwind  :-D

That was the same show they did for the UofM game.... didn't they have like a month-and-a-half between games? This stage not big enough for them to put together a new show?

I will say kudos to Fox for showing "Script Ohio" in its entirety pre-game. Even if you don't like TBDBITL, you've got to love the spectacle and the tradition of that!

Typical OSU (BS) reason: "We're on quarters, so classes were done so we couldn't hold all the band members hostage in Columbus and force them to learn a new show."

Fitting that they played "Titanic," though....

They were there, and they played what they played. Good for them. Most of the bands I have had a chance to see in the regular season and then in a bowl game have been like Jeckyl and Hyde. I will still take an off OSU Marching Band over the plodding scUM band or the prancing Wisconsin band any day of the week if those were my only choices. The FMB would be my first, and obvious choice. Again, I am not trying to defend anyone but I am bringing my experiences into the conversation. They did their thing, good for them.

I sure would have taken UF's band, even with their ball caps and hair down and tennis shoes, over 'tbdbitl' last night.

Not I! All I could think of when looking at their uniforms was Burger King in the early 1980's. "Do you want fries with that?" Those uniforms go on my UGLY list, but not at the top.

I agree, I thought OSU's halftime was awful, and the blue tarp was tacky. I thought Florida's band looked pretty good, they definitely outmarched OSU.

As did the Leno. While speaking of the OSU loss, he showed a clip of the OSUMB doing the part of the drill where the ship was sinking.....quite fitting i think
