There seems to be some confusion on the Perc listproc as to who can be part of the Alumni Band this weekend. Could someone who is on the Alumni board chime in? Specifically, for someone to take part, do they need to have actually graduated from BG, or could someone who has been a member for a few years, is not in band this year but is finishing up school this semester still join in the festivities?

Someone mentioned that the Alumni Band constitution defines alumni as someone who has marched at BGSU with no extra limitations on how many years the person was a member or if he/she graduated.

As long as you marched one year you are considered an alumni, even if you didn't graduate or graduated from another school.

However, and I'm not sure of this, but alumni status is probably only after your freshman class graduated? For example if you marched your freshman year but not your soph, I don't think you can march until that class graduated. That I could be wrong on.

I happen to be the person in question. I marched from 2003-2005. I am in the class of 07... yea i know, i missed my stop. So should i just show up tomorrow morning with my money and have a good time or whats the deal? If I remember, the drumline has been small most years, another drummer could not hurt...ill behave too!

I think you can. Wouldn't hurt to try at least. I do know that if you have a guest s/he will have to purchase general admission tickets (that's what I have to do since I didn't RSVP as a non-marcher).

I'm doing registration with Jeff Radar tomorrow so just remind me. I think we have 96 marchers coming back!

There were like 7 euph alumni this year! It was freakin awesome. Can't ever complain about seeing Jason Luthy and Linzey Core!!!

It was nice to meet Bill, a former president of Kappa Kappa Setup crew.

I love homecoming. We even had TOOTSIE ROLLS!!!!!

I'd be completely surprised if you knew what the tootsie rolls are for.

First off, I was approached by certain alumni to hand-deliver said tootsie rolls...and would like to thank certain alumni for the opportunity to help with that particular homecoming tradition.

Secondly, hats off to Kent VanDock for stepping up in the absence of Delaine (sp?) and RUIT (sorry, havent had the pleasure of meeting you sir!).

Finally, Kappa Kappa Setup? Seriously? I've heard more creative things, but hey - to each their own I suppose. Anyhow, I'm going to stop there because I fear going further will change the purpose of this thread (what else is new)...plus, I am an officer of said organization and will keep those 'other' comments to myself.

BTW, Kappa Kappa Setup doesnt have a history of the band program at BGSU, but Kappa Kappa PSI does.

Relax guys, no offense was intended. I fully appreciate everything all of you do. We certainly could not accomplish much around the CMA without you all.

Its hard for us to relax when leadership of the FMB publiclly denounces Kappa Kappa Psi,even if it is on an unofficial forum. How, may I ask can you fully appreciate an organization and not imply offense by mocking it? Please feel free to answer this question to me in person. More importantly. Alumni band was AWESOME! i heard screamer and not only was it fast, but it was clean! It sounded so full and coloured. I was proud of the turnout. It was great to see the faces i recognize from my 4 years here at BG.
The marching was fantastic as well. Most of you (sorry to say) was better than a majority of the current FMB, including some leadership i've had the chance to notice, and my own as well.

I cnanot say it enough... Thanks so much for coming and showing what the history of this organization is about. You sounded great, looked great, and made the win and the day all the sweeter. Thank you for the "Super" time

This weekend was fun as always. To me, it felt like one of the best alumni bands we've had in awhile. It was the biggest since 2000, which was great to see. What did Carol count...some 30 plus alumni already from her short time here? That's great, and hopefully that number will continue to grow.
The compliments are sure appreciated, but I've got to say, we are not about to out march anyone... we're old and stiff, and admittedly a bit sore today:P I thought the FMB looked and sounded great.
I told him at the game, but I'll say it again here, we definitely owe a huge big 'thanks' to Kent for stepping in and doing his thing so unexpectedly like that. There's alot of fine little details to learn all at once that people may not realize, and he did great.
The weather was as good as you could ask for, the stadium looks awesome (pics online don't do it justice), the band did their thing, and the team won. The only thing I can possibly think of that we could try to improve on in the future is, I wonder if there would ever be a way to get the alumni band a little closer to the student band. Temp seating is the only way I can come up with off hand. Both bands played a ton, but it would be nice to be closer so we could play everything together instead of always taking turns. Not to mention, an extra hundred added into the student band sure makes for alot of sound
I had alot of fun as usual. Can't wait 'till next year. Hope to see some of you in January.

does anyone else think it's a coincidence that the two times we've had so many returing alumni I didn't march?

Truely, it was great to see so many people come back. It was odd not marching and not having Halford there but I'm so glad Kent stepped in. He did a great job!

I was by the south endzone during pre-game. when the starting line up was announced I didn't hear any crowd yelling or cheering. However, once they announced the Marching Band people started yelling and cheering! It was also fantastic to see how many people stayed during half time to watch the band. It looked and sounded great!
